Default eco mode

Hello,

Was driving today and was playing around with the different modes.
This whole time I thought I was driving in eco mode. There is a green Eco light on the left side of the tft screen that would go on and off.

Today I turned **** mode to the left and that actually put a Eco Mode light up on the screen that stayed on.

Has anyone experienced significant mpg differences being on eco mode?

So far I'm experiencing 20-21 mpg driving mostly city driving (80% city 20 percent freeway)

lol that's funny. The Eco Leaf is simply a reminder you're being efficient. DMS is your actual Eco Mode selector, but looks like you just found out

There is a difference only if you don't press more on the accelerator to compensate for the same acceleration as in Normal or Sport/S+. In other words, Eco mode is there to get you used to a gentler launch and acceleration, that's it. No other magic really behind it.

So keeping all things the same such as fuel, temps, and your acceleration, MPGs will be essentially the same across all driving modes. I've experienced similar behavior with my CT, RX, and IS.

corradoMR2 said it right. I read in other threads that you get the most out of eco mode when you are in stop and go traffic. Basically the acceleration and the gentler launch is saving you gas is what people were talking about.

Correct, Eco does two things. Slower throttle response when accelerating, meaning less fumes being used to push off the vehicle from a stop and it also regulates the A/C output. Ideal for city driving.
