Default Different tire size on IS350 F

Just curious why the 2014 IS350 F has two different tire sizes in the front vs. back even when the rims are the same size (18 inch)? It's kinda of a hassle becuase I can't rotate them and the front wear out faster.

Do you guys know if you can put the rear size tires (255/35-18) on all four? Thanks in advance!

RWD - you want more traction on the rear tires.
Wheels are not rotatable from back to front...
Should have gotten the 350AWD if you wanted all same wheels/can rotate...

The AWD f sport has staggered wheels / tires also. But you can still rotate side to side. It helps.

They're both 18" but the widths are different. The rears are 1" wider. You'd have to ask a tire shop if you could put a 255 on the front.

Sorry for the lack of clarity guys...my IS is AWD. I know the RWD always have wider tires in the back but on my older 06 IS AWD it is also same tire size and rims all around.

I need to replace the tires soon and wanted to just get 4 of the same size since the rims are 18'' all around anyway...what do you guys think?

Front wheels are 8" wide and rears are 8.5" wide. They are different.
8.5" is the smallest you can put a 255 tire on, so no, you cannot put 255/35 up front on your stock 8" wheels.

Front OEM wheels are 18x8", rear wheels are 18x8.5". If you want to run a square setup, I'd recommend 225/40/18 or 234/40/18 all around. Both sizes are more common/cheaper than 255/35/18 and will fit both front and rear wheels. 235/40/18 provides a bit more coverage on the rear but the speedo will be slightly off.

RWD cars usually have wider rear wheels.

normally you won't want to rotate side to side unless you have non-directional tires.

for directional tires, if you really want to do side to side rotation, you will need to flip and remount the tires inside-out so it can be used on the other side if you see uneven tire wear as a result of camber. This process is mostly not recommended.

I usually do that every 10k miles to all my rear wheel drive cars.

It's not always the case with RWD. It's mostly a vanity thing with the IS350, which doesn't have enough power to need it.
