2014 IS350 F Sport - Sport & Sport + Mode
For those of you that have this, have you noticed that when you are in Sport or Sport + mode that the transmission never shifts into 8th gear? When on the street around 45-50, it never shifts past 5th gear.
I called the dealer on this and they don't have an answer but think this is normal. I say this because on my BMW 335is which has a 7 speed DCT transmission, the same happened there. It would never shift into 7th gear.
Now if you are in the M mode, then you can of course shift into 8th gear because you are manually controlling it.
Dealer was thinking this is normal to keep the engine in the 2500 rpm range so that is where most of the torque is available and makes for a more response pickup when you punch it.
Any others notice this?

How do you like your F Sport vs. your 335i?

Hey Uncle Spud - performance wise compared to my BMW; IS350 F Sport can't compete. But then again we are comparing a blown vs unblown motor too so its not a fair comparo.
I also had an '06 IS350 with intake and exhaust and that is also faster than the 2014 F Sport.
The BMW is slow off the line until the motor spools up and then it takes off. It has a slight turbo lag. So off the line my old IS350 would get the jump.
I had the sport package on '06 IS and that is much firmer & stiffer than '14 IS. Handling feel is more electronic or more power assisted on '14 than '06.
I also had 19" rims on old '06 and now looking for new rims for '14 but finding it more difficult due to high offsets of '14. So a lot of the rims either will not fit or needs rolling or shaving.
Tech wise the new IS is hands down winner over BMW even the new '14 4 series. I had looked at that and was not impressed with interior and styling. Plus a lot more money. Harmon Kardon stereo in BMW sucks compared to Mark Levinson.
Strange thing is my '06 ML sounds better than '14 ML even though the '14 has more speakers and bigger amp.
Looking for intake now and exhaust but nothing much on exhaust now. Intake deciding between Injen, K&N, Greddy & Takeda. My old IS had Fujita which is no longer around.
