ATX owners: Are you installing front license plate?
#17
I refuse to put on the front plate, but I have the plate in my trunk in the event I get pulled over. BUT, we're moving to Texas next year... should I reconsider? Is this really a big deal in Texas?

I just went to the local grocery store and took note of how many folks do not have front plates. It seems to be more a luxury car thing, but its amazing how many don't wear front plates. I've ordered the relocation kit, but I'm still going to try no plates until such time that I get pulled over. It "seems" that its tolerated. But again, it must depend on the county. I live in Travis county which tends to be more liberal/progressive which may result in the cops being a bit more tolerant.

I'll consider it a donation...

Been driving with no front license plate on my F-Sport since July and, knock on wood, haven't been pulled over yet here in NYC. I've ran into cops numerous times too and look at me but still don't pull me over, eventually my luck will run out though XD

It use to be a fix-it ticket or a warning. But now since it's a ticketable offense, cops will issue the ticket. Some cops are more relaxed on it but some aren't, it's the chance you take!

I'm just not putting them on. I'm still pondering on whether I want to go the plate relocation route, or ruin the grille. Don't take this the wrong way, but it just looks off-kilter to me. *sigh* Decisions, decisions.

So on my way to work yesterday, pulling out onto 360 (at a stop-light), to the left of me a state trooper who had plenty of time to see the front of my car. I pull onto 360 and I am behind him (obviously he can see my front). He may have braked a little to make sure I have a rego sticker, but didn't get pulled over. Not a trend by any means, but state troopers are the most hard-*** on traffic things, so a data point.

Here is another license plate relocation option: http://moweraxle.com/homepage.html
I live in San Antonio and ran these on my Porsches. It is solid aluminum, which means if something hits it, it does not deflect/flex and mar the front bumper. I had another one from GoMini that I did not like because it flexed. If something were to hit it, it would deflect and mar the paint.
