Default IS350 manual paddle shifting rough

Anyone else find their tranny shifting on the rough side when in manual mode? I've only tried it in Sport/Sport+ mode and wanted to know if it's normal.

I guess rough is subjective but it wasn't rough during my test drives. I pushed it pretty hard too. I guess you have to compare it to auto trannies you've used in the past.

To be more specific, I find the downshifts jerky, like it doesn't rev match correctly. Upshifts are generally smooth, but obviously not as smooth as if it was in D.

I'm driving a IS350 F Sport RWD 8-speed.

Simple answer: You're downshifting in the wrong gear.

You're right that downshifting from 2nd to 1st gear isn't advisable and is really jerky. This happens in every other gear, at any speed.

I have the same car--no issues. If I'm not mistaken, rev match only occurs in sport +. Nevertheless, have your dealer look at the car.

Anyone find downshifting in eco/normal mode to be jerky then? I may have never noticed this, I normally downshift at a specific speed or at 2.5-3k rpm.

I just got a brand new 2014 lexus is350 awd fsport and the downshifting in normal mode with paddles or the car doing it itself has been very jerky and It's really bugging me. The downshift from 4th gear to 3rd especially. Any one else having this issue? Please Advise

I've noticed that in order to get it to rev-match on downshifts, I can't let the engine rev below about 2,500 RPM. If the engine is above that and I downshift, it always rev-matches (haven't tried going down into 1st, though). If I let it get below that engine speed, when downshifting at least into 2nd, it's always very rough and doesn't match.

As for upshifts, they're always fine and relatively crisp when in S+ mode.

Finally, it's worse when everything is cold and not warmed up. The manual shift mode more or less doesn't work until the car is fully warmed up, rough shifts, not responding to paddle inputs, etc.

yea you dont want to rev high until the engine is warm. Oil lubrication is not as good when the engine is cold so that plus high revs = engine wear

Does the 3IS actually "shift" now? Or is it still a limiter like in the 2IS?
Does it have down shift rev match yet?
