I can't stress this enough - convert your WAVs to MP3s! WAVs are hugely bloated files that take up lots of unnecessary space.

WAV sound better than mp3 for sure. They are not Bloated files
a 64GB USB Flash Drive is not expensive

The average consumer will not be able to tell the difference between a 320kbps MP3 and a 1411kbps WAV in the car's stereo. If you're blasting through an audio stage system, sure you'd want that lossless audio.

the average consumer is also NOT into sound quality. Any garbage file will sound great to them
the ML system is not an average system, it is an Audio person system

why would anyone pay more to the get the ML system and then play junk files?

you can play those same files on the lower quality "premium" system that comes with these cars and other cars for that matter

I also wanted to ask if people have used either 64GB or 128GB USB Flash Drives on the Lexus ML systems
You can dump a lot of files on a drive that size

I used the USB Flash drive with 2,100 mp3 songs on it and it can play them.

there is no 255 restriction on the USB. That would have been the stupidest idea in history if they had that restriction

I play lossless WMA without problems... WAV would not play. Haven't tried any other formats (well, except mp3).

So if you want to get the best out of your system, lossless WMA is my suggestion.

I got a used ipod classic 5th generation and I can play CD Wav and Mp4 files from the ipod on the ML system from USB. If I just hook up a USB Flash Drive, then I can only play mp3 and WMA

i recently just changed to using USB for my music it accesses a lot faster than the CD. MP3 CD in the 2IS accessed pretty fast when changing songs, but it was slow with an annoying delay in the 3IS. Now with the USB it feels just like the 2IS.

The 255 song restriction is per folder not for the USB drive.

I also notice that small mp4 audio files at 512 bit rate appear to sound the same as a 1500 bit rate Wav from CD
this is cool since those mp4's are 5-6 times smaller files

Are you saying that Media Monkey can be downloaded into the car's stereo system? How?
