Default Just got back from the 1/4 mile.

3IS 350 AWD F-Sport

Run 1: (Sport +, paddle shifting)
14.042 @ 99.45 mph

Run 2: (Sport +, paddle shifting)
14.065 @ 98.19 mph (this run I shifted into 4th too early)

Run 3: (Sport in automatic)
14.103 @ 99.15 mph

Run 4: (Sport, Traction control off, paddle shifting)
13.954 @ 99.97

I was able to break the 14 second barrier (barely), but not the 100 mph barrier (though again, only by .03 mph).

This is only the 2nd time I've taken a car to the track. Just curious what she could do. Fitted with Takada intake.

this is very encouraging! this means the RWD 8 speed should be in the 13's at just over 100

Maybe. 8 speeds = more shifting. Would like to see how it goes.

Anyone have the time with a stock intake?

there is no question the 8 speed trans shifts faster, and the first 3 gears are lower and closer together. so on a 1/4 mile run the transmission keeps the engine in the meat of the power band more than the 6 speed. not to mention Lexus own website shows the 8 speed is 1 tenth quicker to 60 than the 6 speed.
also the RWD is lighter than the AWD and also doesn't have the drivetrain losses of an AWD car.

so in my mind there is no question the RWD will be faster.

i'm no track expert, but the air was COLD! the dragsters were slippin all over the place, one damn near rammed the wall, couldn't grip the concrete. Not sure if that cold air helped any too if you need to take that into account.

Guessing the 6 speed is too, cause my accel rate was smooth all the way through 3rd, soon as i hit 4th it killed.

found this in another thread, 4th gear in the 6 speed is a 1:1 ratio on the 8 speed you don't get to that ratio until your in 6th gear!
so i stand by my statement, if the 6 speed seems to fall flat in 4th the 8 speed will stay in the power curve.
also 8th gear is higher than 6th in the 6 speed and thats why it gets better MPG on the highway.

Thanks for sharing!! The RWD 350 should be a little faster as well since the AWD is heavier...

Looks like road and track was able to do 1/4 mile in 13.9 sec @ 102.1 and 0-60 in 5.4

Q50s - 13.8 @ 102.4 / 5.3
Caddy ats - 14 @ 101.6. / 5.4
335i m sport - 13.5 @ 103.8 / 4.9

You're failing to account for the differential ratio at the bottom which is quite a bit taller on the 8 speed

someone already did the math for me n the other thread.

still confirms my point

1st: 14.37 / 14.40
2nd: 8.34 / 8.59
3rd: 5.72 / 5.84
4th: 4.08 / 4.59
5th: 2.91 / 3.86
6th: 2.38 / 3.13
7th: ---- / 2.58
8th: ---- / 2.15

That is pretty good. I floored it today morning after a toll booth and went from 15 miles to 65 miles faster than I could say "Holy ****"!. I know the tech specs say 0-60 in 5.6 seconds. But it felt much much faster than that.

On that matter, quick question. Probably a question that has been asked and answered many times. today I hit around 6000 RPMs while accelerating from 15 to 60 miles. The odometer turned red. I know that the redline is at 7000 RPM, but what are the long term consequences of hitting high RPMs? I definitely do not want to baby the car, but I do not want to be too harsh as well.

Your runs 2 and 3 don't quite make sense. Were these transposed?

Did you shut off all your climate control when timing these?
