Agreed. Its their opinion and its duly noted. Clearly the driving mags think the IS is one of the best of the bunch.

Seems they didn't recommend the Q50 either which is worse for them since the car is fairing poorly in reviews and now bombed CR.

I somewhat agree. Let's be honest, the car really isn't all that luxurious. It's more of a "sportier interior" than it is luxury. And the stupid mouse pointer crap. Yeah, it's pretty much that. Crap. How long does it take for you to change media input? Go from radio to pandora?

Back in the olden days, 2012, you had a separate navigation screen. And quick touch buttons that lets you switch from mp3, radios and cd.

People complaining about driving a stick is a "pita" yet they love the stupid outdated lexus mouse control? LOL

I thought it was "unique" when I first saw it. But when you actually use it everyday, it's a horrible interface. Touch screen is more effective and faster.

And unlike driving a stickshift, this mouse interface is not as fun.

Also, the stupid touch temp thing is crap. A **** is much more effective and accurate.

to each their own because I love the mouse setup. Having to find the right spot to touch the screen always took more effort than I cared for. First you can't typically rest your arm on anything, so if you're driving in the city and hitting bumps, trying to actually pinpoint a spot on the screen is damn near impossible. Now with the mouse thing it's super easy to hit what you want on the first try.

Also, no more fingerprints all over the screen.

Several ways apart from selecting source from the Mouse (Radio to Pandora)

1) Voice command "Launch Pandora"
or
2) Cycle the Mode button on the steering wheel
or
3) Cycle the radio button

I totally agree with CR. The IS250 is a piece of crap compared with the competition. 9 years old engine and transmission, so many features missing that even the 2nd generations has them. Very slow car, very poor gas mileage. the screen is so laggy, so hard to access anything., Honda get the same gas mileage with a regular gasoline and 3.5l / 280hp. Is250 is a sad car. No need for people to get offended.
It also got a lot of disappointed buyers here on the forum. I think it is the car with the higher buyer remorse in here.
And what was Lexus expected to get, applause?! All they did to this car was to change the look after almost 10 years when the competition came with new engines. aa one thing they did good, they finaly made the pedal shifters work how they should.

Probably no one read the end of the article that say that the reason those car are not on Recommended list is that being so new there is no info about reliability which is a key factor in their decision.

"To earn "recommended" a car or truck must have average or better reliability in CR's annual reader ownership surveys, in addition to doing well in CR's tests and getting good scores in government and industry crash tests."

^^ Just as credible as CR and other sites like Edmunds and Carand Driver got to you who places the IS250 on the last position compared with competition. They all must be on something and don't see how wonderful of a car this is
It is clear that Lexus is milking consumers with this car.

It is interesting to note that CR used the slowest and heaviest of all the IS variants - the AWD drive IS250.

If and when they test a RWD 350, the outcome will be different. Yet, a gazillion people find the 2WD 250 appealing, and that's the model that sells in masses here in L.A.
Sorry, but CR is nuts. The new IS is a sounding success with the public and press, and reliable to boot.

You conveniently left out Car and Driver and Road and Track which rated the IS350 F-Sport FIRST against competitors like the BMW 335i, Cadillac ATS 3.6 and the Infiniti Q50.

It's not just the appearance that changed, the chassis, the suspension, the steering, the very basic structure of the car was improved in every way from the previous generation. Only the engine is carryover.

No, I did not "conveniently" left that out. The topic of discussion is IS250 if you haven;t realized by now.
IS350 is a great car and was First indeed against competitors and it should.

Only difference between the IS350 and the IS250 is the drivetrain. The chassis, suspension and steering is the same.

Not everyone needs 300hp in their car. Sometimes, the pinpoint steering feel, the great driving feedback and tight responsive chassis (all still present in the IS250) is enough for them.

Maybe but having owned both a IS250 and IS350,the 350 feels like a different car.Add in AVS and the 350 driving experience is even more like that of a different car.

I still think the 2IS is better than the 3IS in many aspects. Particularly the late model 2011-2012 2IS

One big physical disadvantage of the 3IS is that it's bigger & heavier car. All the chassis enhancements Lexus claim cannot mitigate that issue.

The 3IS feels bigger and heavier when I drive it compared with the 2IS, which feels nimble and much more responsive.

--Let's not even get started on interior quality.
