Fantastic review! I'm happy to see the new IS gain so many accolades from the press and fans alike.
About the only thing I disagree on is the lack of power for the 250. For daily driving, commuting, and about 90% of typical Lexus buyers, there's plenty of power. I was looking back on Lexus's website, where they list out all their model specs since the beginning. The 350 sells in very low numbers compared to the 250.

FWIW i have all but forgotten the 250 even exists! personally i think that power plant belongs in a civic!
i have never driven a 250 and have 0 interest just based on the engine torque and hp numbers alone it is totally out in left field for a car at this price point.

the lack of power for the 250 for me is not something that would make me pay more, my Is250 is 34,666 and the Is350 f sport 52,222 that's a huge gap!! plus 90% of the time I won't use 50% off the power in both engines , I know this because I use to have a Camry V6 and I don't miss that car for a sec!
mainly I got the Is250 because it fits my pocket, it's a Lexus, great durability ,great resale value, got a beautiful interior, drives fantastically fun and it has a torque V6 when used in sport mode (with a lovely V6 sound which it better than a 4 banger vacuum cleaner sound ) with plenty of power for my driving style, but if I wanted to get a race car or a sport car(I well in the next 2 years) I would buy one for that purpose.

Like to like, the price difference isn't huge, and like the OP mentioned, the fuel mileage improvement for the 250 is minimal over the 350.

thank you everyone, appreciate the kind words!
to be honest, from my driving of the two cars (a week on each), i didn't feel that much of a difference in gas mileage. for sure with the is350 f sport in s+ mode, gas mileage got a bit worse, but i won't call it significant at all. possibly it's because of the lack of power in the 250 so i ended up revving it higher, whereas the 350 stays "quiet" most of the time.
won't be surprised if it has to do with driving habits (i am more used to high power cars), but i think the important thing is given the price difference, the 350 seems to be a far better buy
and correct, it's not apple to apple when you compare a relatively base 250 to a very fully loaded 350 f sport, not fair. if you want to go base on 250, then go base on 350 and you see again a 4k difference
