Default My take on a red start button

I was looking at the thread posted the other day showing how to switch out the start button for a red one. I was blown away by how much I liked the look. I couldn't justify $200 just for a button that I already have. So I went the cheap route and spent less than a dollar.

First I followed the OP's instructions on how to get to the button and removed the unit. I also removed the plastic bezel. I cut a small piece of dark red vinyl a little larger than the button face. I then used a hair dryer to heat up the vinyl and smoothed over the edges. I then used a flat piece of plastic and flattened the sides. Using a small blade I trimmed the excess.

After that I re-installed.

It isn't nearly as fancy as the TRD button and doesn't have any writing on it. The illumination doesn't appear to show through either. But for the cost savings it suits me pretty well.

NOTE: It looks like there is a blemish/wrinkle in the vinyl, that is just an odd reflection.

Not a fan of the look but if you like it that's all that matters.
Not a fan of the TRD one either.

A+ for finding a way to save yourself some $$.

However, you should write, Missle Launch on there

Maybe get a small black sticker that says start/stop cut out at a vinyl shop and it will be perfect. Hey for a buck you cant go wrong!

Cool on the creativity. Not really digging the result. To each their own!

you can do other things on it instead of START STOP Engine text. Put a radiation/biohazard symbol, college logo, whatever

Good approach for some cost savings!

Here's my suggestion for button text

In this case, I prefer the stock look. But kudos for doing it.

I vote for stock look too but as long as you like that is the most important.

First off, thanks for the open minds. Our cars are ours and customization is a very personal reflection of what "we" like.

As far as the text goes I am not sure how well additional vinyl will hold up to repeated pressing. But I am game to give it a shot. With as inexpensive and easy as this is to do it is no problem to switch it out.

Luckily I own a vinyl cutter and can experiment with a few different ideas. I love the "easy" button idea but will go with this first.

The leading is off on this image, but I was in a hurry. I might have to redraw the crown a bit as the more intricate shapes will be difficult at a size this small.
