How are the replacement radio / navigation units working out?

Anyone above Software Version 8500 yet?

Thanks.
My radio was replaced back in December (it has the version 8400 software on it). My original had been upgraded to 8500 and all sorts of problems developed over time.

The replacement is working well (they are not going to update it to 8500). The only glitch I get is an occasional restart right after starting the car. I can live with that until they come up with a real fix.

Default just say no to 8500!

I went in for my 5k service and I told them about the occasional reboots I was experiencing with the 8400 software. The reboots never bothered me too much since it was only a couple times a week. They told me they had a fix and assured me it was proven.
Long story short, they updated my software to 8500 and its Worse! Reboots constantly and freezes. It never did this before.

That's terrible; sorry to hear.

Have you contacted the dealer since? If so, what have they said?

There must be something to the version of hardware we all have in our cars. My nav system has been like a million times better since the 8500 update. I feel like I'm in the minority, though.

So, you have 8500 and you have zero reboots, flashes, and slowness? Your system is completely cured with no remaining issues?

So far, yes. Disclaimer: it's only been about a week and a half.

After multiple reboots the past 3 days, the dealership did a "hard reboot" with 8500 firmware. I'll see how long this remedy last. Dealership did mention a couple more owners with this same issue and they did a reboot to them too.

You can reboot yourself... just hold the power button for the radio down while the car is running

I haven't really followed this thread much since having my entire radio unit replaced, but Lexus did swap out my radio for a new one about 4 weeks ago and its been great ever since. No more issues thankfully.

Update on my update. I think the screen flashed last night while I was commuting home. I was looking at the road, but thought I saw in my periphery a blue-ish flash for a split second.

When I bought my 350 F Sport, I had nothing to compare the navi to since it's my first Lexus. It wasn't until I got an ES300h as a loaner that I noticed how horrendous and slow the new IS navi really is.

Besides the rebooting, do you guys strongly feel that the 8500 update completely solves the slowness/lag issue (equivalent to other new Lexus models)?

After the 8500 update the performance of my system slowly degraded to the point is was restarting multiple times within about 20 minutes.

I would stay with the 8400 software until Lexus comes up with a real fix.

Default Lexus Navigation

My history is similar to others: navigation slowness, failed upload, random reboots, replace radio/nav, and random reboots (again).

My dealer tells me that this issue will be brought up at a forthcoming tech conference with Lexus corporate.

I really hope they can get a handle on this soon -- it's getting old"

Its called the joy of buying a first year car. You get to be on the Lexus proving ground team.

On the plus side. You paid extra for the privilege.

Don't forget the other bonus of: Once it's actually fixed your car will be past warranty coverage for it to be replaced on the manufacturer's dime
