Default 3IS 350 same engine as GS350?

Are they identical engines? I was reading the information about the 2014 GS350 and it has the same horse power as IS and it sounds like GS350 RWD will be getting the 8 speed but not the AWD like what they did with IS this year.

http://pressroom.toyota.com/releases...ort+design.htm

Also I was looking at the GS350 F Sport on Lexus.com and it also doesn't' come with Memory seats or ventilated seats so at least Lexus is being consistent with what they are doing with 3IS.

One other thing I noticed in the article was that 2014 GS will have Siri integration. Will 3IS be able to upgrade to this via firmware upgrade?

Long a leader in user technology that’s easy to use, Lexus has integrated Siri® Eyes Free Mode, with technology licensed from Apple®, in the 2014 GS 350. Compatible with the iPhone® 4S and iPhone 5 models forward, Siri lets you call contacts, select and play music from iTunes®, get turn-by-turn navigation through Siri and Apple maps, and much more. To help you keep eyes on the road and hands on the wheel, Siri can read notifications, read calendar information and allow you to add reminders, calendar appointments and notes.

I think they are. One reason I never considered a GS after an extensive drive is that it really did feel underpowered and that a car that size needed an 8cyl or some boost in hp. Oh, one more thing -- the nav is bigger on the GS but that really made the limits of the mouse much more noticeable to me because there is so much more real estate to cover in order to position the curser. What color combo did you order?

I would agree with you. Even Hyundai Genesis has V8 option that gets 429HP.

Owned that. Can't convey to you how sweet that TAU engine is. Really an engineering marvel. If that engine was in the GS -- watch out world.

Same engine.

The GS F Sport does have memory and ventilated seats. Couple things it doesn't get that the luxury package does, the 18 way power driver and passenger seat (it gets a 16 way driver seat), passenger door sunshades, rear radio/hvac controls, 3 zone climate, adaptive lighting, and foglights.

Ok. Thanks for the info. For some reason when I was building it on Lexus.com it wasn't included in the F-Sport option.

Why did you get rid of the Genesis? It couldn't have been more than couple years old. I was considering 2015 Genesis but after seeing the interior spy shot I was disappointed to say the least.

The ride/handling was subpar but the car was very solid, trouble free and full of tech.

Looking at the acceleration of the Genesis 5.0 R-spec i don't see how this is equivalent to a car with 429HP, and it sounds like a V6. Besides what's with that 2nd gear?

Lexus/Toyota gets the job done with a 3.5L V6 that for some reason also sounds nicer than the 5.0L V8 in the Genesis above!

+1 . . . . .had a 2010 Genesis V8. Moved UP to a 2010 GS450h. That's where your power is in the GS series since they got rid of the V8.

Only if the Lexus managed to shift more units of the GS. It's very good.

yowps3 A 6 cyl. will never feel as good as an 8 imo.

"The 4.6 Tau V8 Engine was named to the Wards 10 Best Engine Awards for 2009 and 2010.[6] The Tau V8 received the award due to the engine's "velvety power delivery, competitive performance, and attainable price-- all of which epitomize the Korean auto maker's drive for world-class engineering", as quoted by Forbes. This was Hyundai Motor Co. Ltd. first appearance on Ward's 10 Best Engines list. The 5.0 Tau Engine was also named in the same awards for 2011."

GS isnt that much heavier than the IS, about 200lbs. Thats like having another person in the car. Engine now is plenty for most people, although more power/efficiency is always welcome

That engine package in the Genesis was/is sweet. That V8 has some punch. However, the rest of the driving experience in my opinion was lacking.
