Corolla?

That's the problem with the Lexus, Infiniti, and Acura brands and will always be the problem imo. BMW and MB are "lifestyle brands" and they are stand alone companies. The Japanese brands will always be associated with their parents, parts sharing and platforms. Honda has a big part to play in that in that it's an open secret that the TL is on an Accord platform. .

Dunno for someone who has lived in Germany a few years every time I see a Benz I remember the bread trucks and taxi cabs. Then when I see BMW those were the ones you always saw broken down on the side of the road. :P

After vw purchased lamborghini, they also share parts.
So tell you friend that comparing the corolla to the IS, is like comparing a vw golf to a lamborghini gallardo. (they do have some of the same switches and buttons)
See the buttons for the climate control on the gallardo..

This is a canard is as Father Time foisted by competing makers - Same argument used by Ford etc in the Corvette or Cadillac as they were under the General Motors umbrella ...
Engine mounted: Corolla is mounted transversely (sideways), IS is longitudinally mounted (lengthwise).
Drive axel: Corolla is front wheel drive, IS is rear wheel drive
Suspension 1: Corolla front suspension is a McPherson strut setup, IS uses a double wishbone design.
Suspension 2: Corolla rear suspension is a torsion-bar semi-independent axle beam, IS uses a multilink independent rear suspension.
Just to name a few of the major differences
