Default MP3 Specs?

I have loads of mp3 files recorded using Tunein Radio Pro from various internet stations. These play fine on my laptops, Android tablets and phones, and the Grom usb player I have in my previous GS. But while I can see the folders being scanned, the IS300H, which I collected today, cannot find any files it likes and skips to the next folder. Surely they've made provision for raw USB files with no full tags!??

I can't get any answers on my thread either.

If you find something let me know.

I am just learning about mp3s and I was able to determine that the files it did like had tag 3V2 and the ones it didn't were 3V2@utf16. I don't know if that is the cause or what to do about it. Otherwise I can see no difference in the files.

I've been playing with a tag editor and discovered the reason seems to be that it can't handle MPEG2.5 encoding which, though developed by Fraunhofer, isn't an international standard. On my tablets I usually use BS player for all media files and this plays them OK, but I've realised that Google music player and the ES player can't handle them either.
The annoying thing as that the Grom player I fitted to the GS that the IS300H has replaced had no problem playing them,,,

That's not my problem. I'm listening to podcasts from the same source, and some of them work and some don't. I will try burning them to CD (as mp3) and I bet they will work fine.

If it is just the tag type in your case, then you should be able to change it using applications like MP3TAG I would think. The car manual seems to suggest you don't need tags at all.

I've kind of tried that but I don't know exactly how to do that. I don't know how to change the tag from 3V2@utf16 to just 3V2. I did try changing the text and removing any non alpha characters but that didn't work.
