The purpose of the signal is to give other people a chance to know in advance that you are changing lanes. Which they can respond by letting you in, speed up or ignore you.

It's not about who can change lane faster or cuting people off in heavy traffic. Anyone can do that.

I did it myself, it's actually not that complicated once you read it and understand what it's asking you to do. I memorized the pattern, did a few dry runs in my head then did the actual programming in one go. It's like entering a cheat code for a game.

LOL cheat codes. Good times. I ended up doing it myself also after the dealer failed after 45 mins of trying.

When you use the indicator to change lanes, if you click it half way, il blink 3 times and stop. There is a way to reprogram it to blink 5 or 7 times instead.

I went to 2 different Lexus dealership in CA. Both said it couldn't be done. Should I bring in the pdf files as proof that it can be done?

My Benz 2012 GLK350 turning signal was 4 blinks (not 3) and I was very happy with the four blinks. I hate the 3 blinks on the GS.

Yup.. you should bring it with you. Though you might have better luck doing it yourself unless you are leaving the car for other service and you have the time to wait for them to read and figure it out.

Took me about 15 mins to understand the sequence and give it a try a couple of times.

I also went to a high volume Lexus dealer in So Cal (OC) and they didn't know what I was talking about when I asked.

Once I sat down and read the instructions after cursing to myself for 15 minutes trying to do it while reading, it literally took maybe 20 seconds. My dealership spent 45 mins trying to figure it out and gave up.

I had it done at Crown Lexus in SoCal.

Something weird I noticed though: my lane change sensors on my mirrors no longer function. I don't know if this is definitely related or not, but they used to work fine and now don't, and seemingly stopped around the same time I had the number of flashes changed. Anybody else have a similar problem?

Meaning; switching the signal marker up or down?

Your flasher stalk (rod / stick) actually has three positions 1) neutral - position while you are not touching it - 2) Right or Left - nudging it slightly up or down 3) Right TURN or LEFT TURN - flicking all the way up or down

Position 2 is what we are talking about, which is initiated by a gentle nudge. The flasher will (by default flash 3 times then automatically turn off). A lot of people (including me) feel that 5 is a good number to signal and transition into a lane.

If you are always flicking the flasher stalk entire up or down to position 3 then you would have not noticed position 2.

Any other settings we can customize!?

Any way of getting the entire manual from your shop?

Thanks!
