Default Ultra White Touch Up Paint (Code 083)

So I asked my dealer to see if they have this in stock and they said no. But they also told me that I need a base layer + the second layer, resulting in 2 bottles of paint.

I did a little research on here and found that this is true for Starfire Pearl and sewell parts confirms this, but they only list one paint for Ultra White

So my question is, does anyone know if I need 2 bottles or just the 1 bottle? (They are asking $17/bottle)

Is Ultra White a solid or metallic paint? All metallics should have a layer of clear coat on top = 2 bottles.

As far as I know, the Ultra White is not a solid color. It is described to be a glass flake. I would imagine that it would be a base coat / clear coat process.

Ultra white is definitely metallic and it definitely needs a clear coat on top. Im just wondering, WTH, wont you always need the clear coat bottle anyway? Im pretty sure even though obsidian is a solid paint, it still has a clear coat?

Can't say about today, but in the past solid paint was often mixed with clear coat in the same touch up bottle. But since Lexus is premium, one can hope they keep the clear coat in a seperate bottle.

I just picked up a bottle of touch-up paint from the dealership too! They had to special order mines as well. They only have me a bottle of the paint. I didn't know there was a clear coat out there as well?

I just contacted sewell. They said yes, there is a basecoat for the Ultra White. They just updated their website to include it.

I wont' know if its a clear coat or not until I order it. But one dealer called it a 2 stage paint, meaning, there are two separate bottles.

From the information I gathered, you would put on the base coat on and then the ultra white paint on top of that.

I'll order soon, just making sure I don't need anything else due to hefty shipping charges.

Default Lexus says its TriCoat

There is a base white, followed by the mid layer of sparkly glass/metal flakes followed by a clear coat.
Lexus Stealership (dealership) also told me that they don't have a touch up paint yet.
From other websites (including Amazon) I came across the color code 083 which does show a three pens or jars as part of the package and claims its the match to the ultra white lexus paint, however the people who bought it and reviewed the product said, "it is not even close" "don't waste your money"
if you do find the right product, please share

http://www.automotivetouchup.com/tou...us/2014/gs350/
if you select the 083, the note on next page says
"Note: Tri-coat color chosen.
Both a groundcoat and a midcoat of the selected container will be shipped."
and
"PLEASE NOTE - You will most likely also need clearcoat (available on the next page, after you click "add to cart") along with your paint color. If you're feeling confused, here's some more info about clearcoat."
has any one tried this yet?

My dealership says base coat+paint so two bottles.

my dealership is also 2 hours away and will not ship. Does anyone have a reputable online store to purchase that will ship the touch up paint? I checked out amazon and they have the base coat+paint two .05oz bottles.

I've had a good experience with Dr. Color Chip.com. Maybe check them out.
