For those who have already purchased the new IS 350, what other vehicles did you cross shop, and why did you decide on the Lexus?
Maybe your responses will help me make a damn decision already!
Also, the lease residuals are incredible. 72% after 27 months. Do you think this is artificially inflated by the mfer or do these cars really retain their value like that?

Lexus Test Driver
I looked briefly at the new Q from Infiniti. Once owned a G and an M. Never drove the Q. The new IS will be the wifes car (replacing the '10 IS-C. She'll spend 90-95% of the time behind the wheel. She loved the new IS. And that was that.

Steering feel, handling and fluid, available power are important to me. Within my price range (e.g. ruled out the Porsche 911 Carrera) I compared the IS 350 AWD F Sport, the BMW 335i xDrive, and the Audi A5 coupe. Overall the Lexus won by a comfortable margin. Now I also get reliability to boot!

I had an Infinite prior to getting my IS so I was tempted to wait for the Q50 however I just knew I wanted the IS since it looked so so much sexier than the Q IMHO ??
The one ride I know I may had preferred if it was already out wouldve been the new BMW 4 Series Coupe OOOMMMGGG sex on wheels ....... hmmmmmm maybe once the lease is up on the IS ???

Well still a G37S owner until next month I already test drove the Q50 and to be honest it didn't give me the wow factor. So I'm leaning more on the IS350 F Sport white / red color combo. My test drive of the IS made my eye pop out of it's sockets love the way the car handled. So no if's but's or maybe's on my next car it will be an IS.
What color did you get Elaine?

I spent the entire day driving luxury sport sedans. I started with lexus and ended with lexus.
1) IS350
2)IS250 F-Sport
3)Infinity Q50S (hybrid) holy crap that car is fast.
4) BMW 328i
5) Back to IS350
6)back to IS250 f sport
My thoughts:
IS350 = better than IS250 (even the f sport) - Just faster, felt like it handled highways speeds with more room for passing.
IS350 = same as Q50S hybrid (i like the displays in the inifiniti better), but overall IS350 was more comfortable and fun. The hybrid Q50s is amazingly fast, but is much softer on the handling.
The Q50 is a tad overpriced, but I loved the interior, it felt a little better organized. Not enough to sway me from the Lexus body style which is much better. The regular IS350 stuck to the road amazingly well, i can't imagine the f sport variant.
IS250 F-sport = my favorite overall feel and interior. The one issue was after driving the doors off of the IS350 (regular) and the Q50s it felt very underpowered. This bothers me thinking about it after the fact.
After being set on an IS250 F-Sport, I am going to try and work into the IS350 F Sport if the "minister of finance" allows the extra funds to be released. If not the IS250 f sport will be the car for me. They are selling out faster than the dealers can hold them on the lots.

I looked at BMW 335 and Audi S5 prior purchasing the 3IS 350 F-Sport.
BMW 335: I dislike the interior and exterior. After adding the M-Sport package and other stuff, the car was about $53k to $54k - over my budget.
Audi S5: The current body style is really outdated. I don't like the interior because the center instrument panel is tilted to the driver side. In addition, the car came out to be like $58k. Reliability was one of my concerns as well.

Looked at the Q50, IS350, A6, and TL. Ended up with the GS350. Sometimes I still regret not getting the IS when I see one on the road, but the interior of the GS just wowed me in, and the great deals they had. I thought I'd wait the 27 months and then get the IS when they're willing to play more with the price (and introduce memory / ventilated / heated seats on the Fsport).

Looked at F30 328, Audi S4, Infiniti Q, IS250 AWD, and IS350 AWD/RWD.
328's steering felt like a Fisher Price toy and at around 130 KPH, I heard a whistling sound coming from the sun roof. The ride didn't feel nearly as refined as an IS.
Audi S4 was great, but out of my price range for the package that I want.
Infiniti Q didn't came out in time and I needed a car ASAP.
I like the 250, thought it was bit under power. Tried the 350, thought the 6-speed was a little slow and clumsy on hills. I was gonna settle for an AWD since that's the only FSport that dealers in my area seemed to stock, but one day I saw that they got an RWD Fsport in and I went in and got that one.

I had a (european) Ford Kuga and was set to buy the second generation (global version), but I was so disappointed by the way it looks now (boring), equipment (only 5" navigation???) and options (no sports package). I didn't even test drive it.
By coincidence I saw an article on a news site "Prices for Lexus IS300h announced". Lexus has been out of my reach, so I was really surprised by the prices. I missed the preview of the 300h by a week, but I test drove the GS450h to get a feel of the e-CVT (never driven one before). Ordered the 300h the next day

Hmmm I'd say 328 motor is way better than IS250. Everything else the IS beats it, especially in terms of prices. But man that 328 engine is so much more than the 250's

Started wanting a Audi S4 but a little overpriced, didn't want to hit the 50k mark
drove
S4 - best car of the bunch, it's just so fast and amazing, launch control was flat out AMAZING
328 - fun but a little underwhelming interior, unless you go for the M Sport package which at that point is at the IS350 F Sport range
Q50s - probably the most comparable to IS350 F Sport. Nice aggressive grill, did not like the profile and back of the car. Also very nicely finished interior, but the very soft REAL leather sports seat were not as comfortable as the pleather's IS350
IS350 F Sport (which is what i ended up with) - had to drive it 4 times. Each time making sure that i had picked the right one. I'd say if you get the chance, drive all the cars you want, and come back to the IS to do a final comparison. At the end of the day, for its looks, technology, driving position, and value, this is the one i got but i must say, that first night, i kept looking back at the S4. Next time German cars, next time
