Default Painted F-Sport Wheels

I am considering getting the FSport wheels painted in a dark gray/gunmetal/ graphite gray color. I was looking at the ISC Fsport and ISF wheels as a possible reference color. It appears in some pictures that the ISC Fsport center spokes are darker but other pictures it looks like the entire wheel is uniform in color. Are there 2 versions of the wheel or is it the lighting?

Also the Lexus sales guy said that they could paint the wheels in any color/finish by using a special process where the wheel color is baked in?...powder coating? Ive read in other forums that when black painted wheels are scratched they look bad and are very noticeable. What's the difference between stock wheels that are dark colored vs ones the are painted?

They basically just put them in a huge oven at high temperature. Its still paint, just baked on so it doesnt come off.

Problem with powder coating is that they blast the wheel down with sand first so there is no turning back after that point. If you want to stick with that colour forever then powder coat as the finish itself is much more durable than painted wheels. However, if you may wish to change the colour of the wheel in the future go painted

Absolutely not! But I am considering getting the stock 2014 IS Fsport wheels painted/coated the same COLOR as the ISC wheels.

I really had 2 questions regarding these ISC wheels

1. Is it the lighting that makes the center spokes look darker on some pics or are there 2 versions of the wheel?

2. What's the difference is this wheel (stock) vs a wheel that is powder coated with the same type of finish? In regards to painting process, quality, durability, etc. Maybe there is no difference...IDK.

The F sport wheels are already a darkish gray. The liquid metal or whatever they call that color will look far better than some tacky Plastidip job because the finish is so nice. A matte/dull finish will just make the wheels look drab despite their great contours.

Perhaps, although I'm still interested in a slightly darker gunmetal color. What type of finish would you recommend?

I would consider getting a set of velgens or the avant garde 510s. Similar split 5 spoke style in gunmetal color and you can go 19s or 20s (too big for my taste). Try selling your 18s to someone who didn't get f sport and it wont be too expensive.

Although I love the look of 19s and 20s they just would not be very practical for me. I originally looked for 18's in a split 5 spoke style and the only decent ones I could find was the Niche Targa wheel. Not sure if it comes in gunmetal. I would prefer not to paint the OEM wheels but I seem to have few options. Anyone know of any other 18" split 5 spoke wheels?
