Scratched leather on steering wheel

Scratched leather on steering wheel
I picked up my beautiful Nebula Gray IS350 today. I did all the full inspection of the car with the salesman and all was perfect. A few hours after I left the dealership, I noticed a scratch on the steering wheel leather. It's on the back side, around 7 o'clock location. It seems it got scratched from some one's ring. I couldn't see it previously because of it being on the back side. The scratch is about an inch long. It is deep enough to feel something rough under your hand.
I called my salesman and he asked me to bring it back tomorrow to the dealership to see if they can fix it or replace the steering wheel if needed.
It "may" be fixable but I do not have much experience with leather repair. I am a bit concerned about the possibility of replacing the steering wheel altogether and messing something else in the process.
My car is not F-sport, so the steering wheel has the non-perforated leather(?) wrap around.
Any input? Thanks in advance.

This exact scenario happened to me on my previous car. Leather repair people can work wonders... I'm almost positive they'll just repair it rather than replace it, and it will be impossible for you to tell the difference. I've had my leather steering repaired, leather seats repaired, and in most cases can be repaired flawlessly. Of course, it IS a brand new car and you certainly have the right to request a new steering wheel if you really want, but I really doubt it's necessary in your case.

With my CT, steering wheel had scratches I noticed after two years and no questions asked, the dealer replaced the entire wheel under warranty.

Leather Scratches -- advice from list members?
Dear all: bought an excellent 2008 GS460 about a month+ ago, 66,000KM / 44,000 miles. Black leather interior, overall very good condition (virtually new). First owner took good care BUT the driver's door arm-rest / pull has a few scratches probably from fingernails. -- photo attached, taken 10 minutes ago. I was thinking to take the car to a leather repair specialist. BUT not for straight restoration. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK OF THE FOLLOWING: replacing the leather "shoulder" (where the scratches are evident, maybe along the full length of the arm-reset / pull) with matching color carbon fiber, or kevlar? Properly cut, folded and installed, I would hope it wouldn't look like the skin job on Frankenstein's monster ... and I thought that maybe the durability question would be answered for a good, long time. Your thoughts?
