Yea knowing msrp will help us evaluate the deal. But a lot of times, the dealership doesnt tell you about these incentivs and they'd rather say they are giving more discount because of this and that

I doubt if he got much better discount than many people are getting on 2015 model Although he thinks he got a hell of deal. In the end, he paid $1800 less for the car and dealer made a same profit as they would do by selling 2015s. Obviously 14s dont come with certain things like 15s do such as ventilated seats etc

He got the car for 38250. Dealer sold the car for 40050 with dealer cash incentive. I know u can get 2014 f sport 350 with navi for 46999. So if thats the case. He got $7000 off msrp. Compare to 5200+ on 2015 model. Now the question is. Was it really worth getting 14 over 15. His car will be 2yrs old soon from manufactured date. Obviously resale value will have huge hit compare to 15s and like i mentioned those things are missing on 14 model too

I wouldnt have done that especially with hard pushed test droved 261 miles. Maybe i wouldve if it was a lease instead. But lease rate is horrible on 2014 even with $1800 dealer cash rightnow

But if he doesnt care too much then he got the car for a lot less than msrp!
In the grand scheme of things, the resale probably won't enter into it much. He didn't tell us all the details so it's hard to say. If he leased and doesn't intend to buy it out, resale is irrelevant. If he purchased and keeps the car for 5 or more years, there won't be much difference in resale between a 2014/2015. The 2015 only added the ventilated seats and enform remote - no biggie to many folks.

I was just curious as to what the msrp was - if the car has nav/ML, it probably stickered for around 48k which would make his deal a pretty good deal, even for a year old model. The 261 miles isn't that big of deal - the warranty clock starts with the mileage on the clock at the time purchase.

Yeah, I'm wondering if Lexus adjusted production down to reduce the supply which would probably put a damper on discounts a bit.

I partially disagree with your opinion on 14 and 15 will have similar resale value

Similar equipped a year older car will definately have lower resale value. At least $1000.

Also first hard pushed 261miles really bothers me. I remember pretty much every single dealership i visited, they used their demo the Sxxx out of it on test drive. Idk how long hes planning to keep the car for. And i totally understand everyone has different standard. But for me to buy Demo, they should givea Huuuge discount and only going to get it as a lease

One of the best, if not the best deal I've seen on an f-sport - way to go!

Like I said before, the 261 miles is nothing and these engines really don't need a babied break in. And because you'll be keeping the car a long time, resale between a 2014/2015 will be a non factor. I think you made a smart move.

Congrats and enjoy the new ride!

can someone please tell me why anyone puts money down on leases beyond inception fees,
give me one good answer besides lowering payment which is not reason.
you negotiate the lease with tax in no money down, worst case scenario first month and acquisition fee with tag and taxes
safe driving happy holidays

Because they don't know any better or, like you say, want lower payments.

We'd be able to tell better with the missing pieces:

Selling price? + sales tax? + DMV? + misc fees? = 41,900

Ok - let's try this another way cuz I don't think we are understanding each other.

Is the selling price around 38-39k plus sales tax and all fees gets you to 41,900?

I asked selling price and you restated msrp (sticker price).

If your selling price is about 38k that's a good deal.

If your selling price is around 39k that's an ok deal.

I believe TX is a market where folks are receiving at least 10% off msrp.

So in your case that would be about 42,300 minus 4200 = a selling price of around 38,100 (or lower).
