Yes, except I can't imagine a car dealer turning away a possible sale. I'll bet the AZ and other surrounding dealers complained about having to compete with the CA dealers. So it's not hard to imagine that there is some sort of non-compete agreement.

Car dealer non compete agreement - interesting concept. My experience with SoCal dealers is they will stop at nothing to cut each other's throat. Maybe someone with a law background can chime in, but an agreement like that doesn't even sound legal. I mean, someone makes a deal, is prepared to write a check, and then it comes to light the buyer is from AZ and the dealer says "sorry, can't sell you a vehicle - you're not a CA resident." Personally, I've never seen this.

Any other members out there that have experienced this? Just curious.

Well I guess around here they'd be colluding themselves right out of business.

In WA I believe the dealers work together to keep prices high.
We have 4 dealers total and 3 in the local Seattle area.
Most the GSM and sales associates have worked together and at multiple locations so they all share info.

Hello everybody!! I'm about to purchase my first Lexus, I'm coming from 2012 Hyundai Genesis Coupe R-Spec 3.8 and previously 2004 Mazda RX8 GT. I'm getting the IS because I always the way they looked and I finally wanna get AWD bigger car. I'm looking to get 2014 IS250 AWD in Nebula Gray. The car has almost 10k miles and we settled for $33k, few weeks when I came in the first time they wanted $36k. Am I getting a good deal?? I'm really in no rush if this is not the best deal I could get. I feel good about it. I'm from Chicago-land area. Here is a link to the car I hope I will be picking up on Wednesday; http://www.woodfieldlexus.com/Vehicl...-IL/2417220903 Thanks for any tips!

I just purchased a used 14 IS350 F-Sport, 18k miles, SLM/RR with ML, BSM, VGRS for $41,000 OTD

Not certified as it was sitting in a Toyota lot.

Did I come out ok on that deal?

Congrats and welcome!

Might of been better to ask before you bought. What was the selling price? Around $38k? In CA you can probably come close to 45-46 OTD on a 2015.

I was considering a new 2015 model, but $5k more for some features here and there didn't seem worth it to me, when that can go to add-ons and enhancements like tint, clear bra, exhaust, etc.

Well it's not just the features - the 2014 is nearing two years depreciation now so it all evens out. If you intend to keep the car a long time, it probably doesn't make much difference in the long run. You didn't mention so I assume you bought it at around $37-37.5k.

it depends on the prices in your area. a new 250 F Sport RWD goes for about 37-38,000 brand new before TTL. how much are they new in your area? then it's up to you if the difference is worth it for a used model instead of a new one

So I've placed my order for my replacement IS350 F-Sport with a dealer in the LA area. Now I have the long wait until it arrives but it will be worth it:
IS350 F-Sport, Atomic Silver/Black Interior
Mark Levinson/Nav
BSM
VGRS
PCS/Radar Cruise
Rear Sunshade
Rear Spoiler
Tint & Card Key programming

I'll be paying invoice ($46433) + $600 (doc fee) + tax/license

vs. my 2014 I'm looking forward to having ventilated seats and getting the color I originally wanted (ventilated and atomic silver not avail on F-Sport in 2014).
