Default Former 2IS-350 owner - can't decide now 3IS-350F or 335 M Sport

Hey Folks,

This is my first time coming back to this forum since 2007/8. I'm a former owner of the 2IS-350 Mica Red. I bought it in late 2006 and sold it in late 2008 because I was sent to work oversea. I loved everything about my old 2IS 350, from outside to inside. Now, I'm back to the state, and I need to get a new car.

I have been debating between BMW 335i X-Drive M Sport and 3IS-350 AWD F Sport. My point of posting this is that I would like you guys to help me with the selection process. I'm going to schedule a test drive of both 335 and the 3IS 350 this and next week.

All my friends and colleagues told me to try out a German car, and they keep on saying that I will not return buying a Japanese car afterward. This is one of the reasons why I'm considering the 335.

However, I'm **** about details. I hate the 335's interior as it looks cheap to me. In addition, I don't like the exterior of the 335 either, especially when you look at it from the side. The only thing that I really like about the 335 is the stock exhaust noise. All in all, I like the inside and outside of the 3IS F Sport.

What else I should consider?

You say you don't like the interior or exterior of the BMW. So you are only considering it because of peer pressure. Who cares what your friends/colleagues think. Buy what makes YOU happy, not them.

Don't listen to your friends. F30 335i still has reliability issue with limp mode. Check bimmerfest and f30post.
You can get better idea of German quality car or lack there of. Limp mode is totally unacceptable for a brand new car. One of the reasons why I'm afraid to get German cars.

[QUOTE=doctorttt;7997387]

However, I'm **** about details.

BMW 335
CON
1. I hate the 335's interior as it looks cheap to me.

2. In addition, I don't like the exterior of the 335 either, especially when you look at it from the side.

PRO:
The only thing that I really like about the 335 is the stock exhaust noise.

LEXUS IS
PRO:
1. All in all, I like the inside AND outside of the 3IS F Sport.

CON
1. Peer pressure. As a doctor, I think you should make a wiser decision by what you like, not what your friends think you'll like.

Well said and my thoughts as well. If keeping the car for at least 3 years, go with the IS. Under 3 years, lease the 335, tune it, then return it when lease is up.

The 335i is faster. Much faster.

Otherwise, the interior is hokey. The engine is unreliable, and the it's overpriced. I would compare the ATS 3.6 as teh closest competitior of the IS350.

There is simply no comparison. The BMW is ugly and unreliable. I cannot see why you are even considering it.

As above, Audi or Mercedes offer more compelling alternatives; and you probably shouldn't write off Volvo (say S60 T6).

May I suggest a 2011 IS-F? You'd get the speed you want and the interior you're after.
Or perhaps a 2009 CTS-V.

I mean do you HAVE to buy a brand new car?

Congrats. Did you have to order or was it in allocation?

Dealer says the car is at the port somewhere in the U.S., and they will pull this car to NYC - no need to special order. I just posted another thread of my purchase. Thanks
