Default What To do???

Hey guys,

I am in a predicament and I really dont know what to do and what to plan for

I currently own an IS250 and its about time to change cars. I am looking for a long term car that I can keep it in the garage and take it out in the weekends and with time and money begin to add power to it.

Scenario. My wife owns a daily driver and we are getting an SUV for the family car (planning on a third kid).

But I would also like to get a fun car for the weekends and such.

Here are my choices

2014 Lexus IS350 with F-Sport package
or
2014 Mustang GT

IS
+With the IS i get luxury, sick interior and exterior along with more family room in case I want to go out with the fam.
- Expensive, Automatic Transmission and 306HP on a very heavy car and very expensive (performance) upgrades

Mustang
+ Costs a lot less, 420 HP Stock with manual transmission and a potential for a very nice looking car. many performance upgrade options
- boring interior, lack of space

Can you guys add on to the balance

Thanks

2014 IS- All new and will be fresh for years.

2014 Mustang- old design slated for a radical change one year from now. Not worth that in my opinion.

I would get IS350 F sport. You will appreciate all the luxury features and creature comforts in IS350. Mustang is a good car, but I dislike rear live axle (Even though Ford build the best ALS).

Mustang sucks for refinement. Take it for a long drive and the exhaust will tire you out in half an hour. Its too noisy and drones on and on.

I am leaning towards the IS350 heavily. I guess I am trying to fill the void I always had of tuning a car. (Wasnt able to because I had to pay for college)

but thanks for the input

Why not keep your current car and mod it? Assuming you are taking on a payment, why would you do that for just a weekend car that isn't a true "weekend car" like a 911 or even the Mustang, again assuming you would be going to the track or shows at the very least with it.

If you're looking for a "toy" to modify for speed, I think the mustang is a VERY easy choice. Some mods for low 12's and still have spent less money than the IS. Comparing the aftermarket for performance parts between the two is a complete joke. The Mustang has one of the largest if not THE largest aftermarket available.
