The reason why i hated the IS

For those saying the car looks better in darker colors.... let's look at the reality of that. What we are really saying here is the car can only look good when all it's cuts, lines, and holes are hidden by a darker color. Is that really a good thing and a compliment to the new IS? It just sounds like a layer of an excuse to cover up what are unattractive features on the body (separate front lights, black plastic rear valance, etc). If a car looked good on it's own, it would not need a color to make it happen.
Having said that, I'm not calling the IS ugly. I'm just worried we are now having to make excuses for it, in the name of proper colors. To have to make compromises like that is not a positive.

really? i actually think that the darker colors like matador red and nebula gray bring out the lines, curves, and creases of the 3IS better than the lighter colors such as white (ultra or sfp) or a sliver variant (lining or glacier). just my 2...

The reason the darker colors arguably work better is because there isn't the extreme contrast with the grill - not because it hides the curves (I don't think it does). If anything, Ultra White hides the lines more than black does.

i quite like it with with reg. front (non f-sport), but the design overall to me is way too 'busy'.
Cal1, maybe Blueprint's onto something because the first 'bangle butt' 5's and 7's were indeed ugly, but their refreshes made them seem at least much nicer.
i do think lexus has gone unnecessarily ugly with the f-sport stuff (gs and new is). it's like they're appealing to the subaru wrx sti type crowd - make it obnoxiously ugly so it 'stands out'. oh it stands out all right.

OT.
You do know that the picture isn't a real subaru? It is just a rendering from some fanboy with a bad taste..
Subaru have already launched their 2014 model wrx. It doesn't look anything like the car in the picture... However the 2014 wrx is just as ugly as the pictured car.
Here is a pic of the acutal model. I belive it takes a bit of "getting used to", just like the f-sport
