Default Shredded tire vs. My IS

On the freeway a diesel truck shredded a tire. The car next to me ran it over then it shot out from his car towards me. I tried to serve but it still clipped the side of my car. Its not dented at all just scratched up.

I was excited to order some coilovers yesterday and then this happens. Total bummer

Good thing the door was not dented and its just some scratches, which could be fixed back to the way it was.

Sorry to hear about this ...... but it couldve been much worse !! When i opened the thread i had thought you were going to say the tire bounced off your hood or cracked your windshield

So with the scratches ..... granted they still suck no less but it's nothing that compound or any decent detailing shop can't make disappear !!!

John, so sorry. I was on the 101 here in LA and somehow somewhere a bunch of empty 1/2 gallon size containers were bou9ncing across all 4 lanes. Another time a piece of wood bouncing in my lane. It hurts like hell -- but you're okay.

Ouch. I know the feeling. Just had my GS (hood, both fenders, front bumper) repaired after numerous encounters behind trucks. The freeway's are horrible. Truck rubber, stuff falling off trucks and even cars, etc. As other posters have said, the good thing is you were not hurt. Your car can be repaired.

Oh man that sucks! I'd be so pissed this happens to new car. Good thing it's just scratches, you can buff it out at a body shop.

A little too soon for a new car but definitely looks repairable.

Unhappy LA freeways suck..

I clipped a 3"x3" metal pipe not long ago... (looked like part of a tow truck)...

It reeked havoc on two of my wheels, undercarriage plastic and exhaust pipe ..
No body or paint damage..

All covered by insurance..

Sorry to see the scratches.... Some of them might buff out temporarily..
But looks like some painting will be needed..

I would have followed the Diesel Truck and filled a report..

Too bad they still allow the sales of re-treaded tires..

I changed my behavior -- I no longer follow trucks or vehicles of dubious quality. No guarantees but it might help.

Lexus should use self healing paint, Nissan has it.

The scratches don't seem to be that that deep... I would take it to a reputable shop that does paint correction and they may be able to get all of that stuff fixed for you. I think It's worth a shot.

Good luck.

True, sun healed is what they say. But it only works for minor scrapes, not gouges.
