38.2 inches of rear seat room is freakin' awesome! That is a huge jump from the second gen IS. I'm glad to see it grow because that was a serious pain point for me. Aside from the back seat being too small in the 2nd gen, it just contributed to the overall claustrophobic feeling of the 2nd gen car. It just felt way too small when all of the other cars in the competing category were larger.

Not so sure about the 38.2" measurement. The millimeters listed is 818, which equates to 32.2".

That's only 1.6" more than the 2012 model. But probably more realistic. The rear seat/leg room is what kept me away from the 2IS.

With the same engine and transmission as last year, and 50lbs heavier, I assume that mileage won't be improving for the 3IS

Is it just me or the 110" wheelbase is pretty long for its size. It grewa very solid 4 inches, that is actually a big difference from 180. I think the new A4 is that length.

Also am I reading right or is the trunk 17 cubes large?

I'm gonna have to say that the 818mm is a typo because Lexus claims they're best in class in rear seat leg room and 32.2 inches is nothing to write home about. 38.2 inches on the other hand is def a lot of rear space. Considering how much they bragged about also reshaping the back of the front seat and all, I'm thinking 38.2 inches might actually be accurate. Of course, we don't know for sure until we get the official US specs but let's hope 38.2 inches is correct.

90mm longer is really good for the back space. We went to Poland last year, 1500 miles all together, 4 fairly large guys and it was TIGHT. Rubbing all wrong.

So this new one will be HUGE improvement.

In the reveal at the Detroit show, Mark Templin states at the 2 min mark that 'rear leg room grew nearly 3 inches' which is a pretty nice bump but not 38.2" That has to be a typo.

"*IS F & IS Convertible are carryover for 2014" - I believe I am trying to deny the obvious, but just to confirm, there will be no body changes for the IS-F upon the 2013 summer release of the IS 3G? My confusion lies within the fact that an IS-F was premiered on stage in Detroit as the star. Lexus is also parading an IS-F around California dealerships and most articles center around the IS-F. Can anyone tell me it ain't so?

No changes to IS F for model year 2014, it will be identical to what you see now.

As for the 2014 IS you are seeing at California dealerships, that's a 2014 IS 350 F SPORT. Not IS F.
