finally figured out why the headlights look so odd, it has the optional LED headlights. the regular HIDs should fit the outline better

car is completely over-designed... look at the interior... they designed every part of it, even the sides of the dash that are exposed only when you open the doors are look at them specifically, they have same creases as exterior. Front dashboard looks like LFA; not just the cluster but upper part of the dash does too.

i really like it - it is what luxury is all about... just those headlights with cuts into them... i really do hope it looks better in RL.

Love the new IS and the aggressiveness of the overall design! The interior also looks to be a step up. Can't wait to see this in person.

Looks like I'll be trading.... although I like mine now too.... what to do!?!? Anywho, I think it just needs a rear spoiler and that's it.

p.s. nav screen - easily the best integration of all new lexus vehicles... looks awesome. they dont have plastic to cover the sides but it is all glass. looks great.

Thumbs down I'm not feeling the 3IS

Call me old-fashioned, but I don't like the 3IS at all. The exterior is OK, and the interior sort of reminds me of an 80s Trueno (Corolla coupe). It might grow on me later, with a couple of mods, but so far I think the 2IS looks much better.

From the current generation of Lexus vehicles, my vote goes to the 4GS, which still looks agressive, without being too weird-looking.

HA HA HA. We often write about media bias... look at this comment:

Edmunds says: Lexus is taking a very conservative approach to the redesign of its compact sport sedan. Hard to tell at this point if it's a good idea or too little, too late.
http://www.edmunds.com/auto-shows/de...auto-show.html

I often say that I feel like writers write about Toyota/Lexus cars always in the same manner, no matter actual car. What is the better proof than this.

Apperantly new IS is conservative, boring, stale Lexus as usual.

lol.

they could have called it extremely ugly... but not conservative!!!!!

That interior is class leading by far!

However Im still much on the fence with the exterior. Some angles look absolutely AWFUL and painful to look at. Others angles okay and few good angles, but IMO I see more things I dont like than things I do.

Its not love at first sight like the 2nd gen and I really need to see this in person. It was a strong contender for a replacement car, but currently, I have no clue.

Also, regardless of what anyone thinks, it sure is having the interwebs buzzing! At the end of the day, its kind of what Lexus wanted. People are talking about it, good and bad. Say goodbye to the safe choice, this new IS will be an emotional one.

I really like it, I think the headlights are cool, unique which Lexus needs to do more of. Once you see them in real life I bet you'll like them...

+1.

if lexus wanted to stir the pot, it certainly did that and then some with these leaked pics (though you have to wonder how much of it was intentional, but i digress).

i'm curious how the vanilla edition looks in comparison to the F-Sport edition, since all we've seen are pics of the F-Sport edition...

What? This is not 99%, but 110% what the production car looks like. You know what does "prototype" mean? Fit and finish in the production model will be even more superior.

You just cracked me up, thank you

I got insider's info, the final production will look like this, don't tell anyone, I would lose my job for showing you this!
