Got too close to the curb while making a turn today and well I'm not too sure how to describe the result... Photos are attached, it seems like that part of the tire got pinched? It hasn't ruptured and is still fully inflated. Is this something that's repairable or is the tire toast now?

It is not repairable. You should replace it. But I bought someone's wheel that had the same thing and it lasted another 15k without any problems.

That looks like a good chunk of tire - I wouldn't risk driving around on that if I were you.

Toast, sidewall damage is not repairable. Despite Smokyis350's good luck with similar damage, I wouldn't risk a high-speed blowout and would replace it immediately.

Yeah that's pretty much what I thought...

On the plus side, these are the stock tires that came with the car when I bought it CPO and have terrible road noise and I've been wanting to switch them out. Downside being they only have ~5k miles on them right now.

I'm thinking about going to Costco and getting the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires that they have on sale now. any thoughts on those? I don't drive hard or anything so performance isn't a big deal.

not repairable, and dang, that wheel took some damage. might need to looks for new wheels while youre getting that tire!

Ditto, you should never ride on tires damaged to the inside as well as outside walls. Rims is easily repairable.

Now that I've thought it about it some more... Can I get away with replacing just that one tire for now given these only have around 5,000 miles on them or do I need to replace all 4 at once? These are the Dunlop ones that the dealer installed when I bought the car.

Its a 350 AWD if that makes any difference. (I believe the AWD have the same 225/45 size for all 4 whereas the RWD has larger back tires?)

I had the same thing happen to me a couple of years ago. Luckily I had road hazard and was able to replace the tire for $ 25 (cost of mounting). Not 100% sure but I think you may need to change at least the tire on the other side - a lot depends on the treadware on the other tire.

I'm looking at the Pilot A/S 3 at Costco myself and the reviews at tirerack look pretty good. Plus I think there is a rebate if you buy 4 of them.

You'd want to measure the tread depth, but if it's only been 5,000 miles, you should be able to replace just the one.

Thanks for the help guys.

Ended up replacing all 4 in the end with the Pirelli P7. Pretty happy with them overall, they seem to have noticeably less resistance (I "roll" a lot further now) and are somewhat quieter.

If you are at home take it off and toss it into the trunk of another vehicle to a tire shop. I wouldn't even risk driving on that tire. That tire is severely compromised and a danger to you and others on the road should it blow-out. A tire is dirt cheap compared to the aftermath of an accident. Should it blow out and your car cause great bodily harm to somebody else you will be liable. Imagine the legal cost of a $250,000 to $1,000,000 lawsuit. A new replacement will be little more than an inconvenience.

Glad you got it taken care of. The above is advice for others who may read this thread in the future.

Very similar thing happened to me , sorry to say this but that tire is unrepairable just change it

if you don't want to change 2 tires at a time, or the other tire is kinda new why not find a used tire with a similar thread depth to change that one?
