My car is at the dealer for the fuel pressure sensor recall. They are recommending differential service for $139, what do you guys think? the mileage on my car is about 58k and I see it being recommended at 60k miles. Is this something I can do myself later on?

You could do it easily! Took me less than 20 minutes and maybe $30 for Diff Fluid and a hand pump. I went with AMSOIL.

Well if you factory $39 quart for oem Toyota fluid. Being your awd if you are that about 3 quarts and rest is labor. Awd have the front and rear that most people recommend every 30k. Different maker different spec on that note. If your comfortable working on your own car then yes you can DIY.

I have a RWD so I'm guessing it would be an easier job? I was looking at the DYI and it doesnt look too complicated. What weight oil do you guys recommend using?

Not necessary! They probably charge 30-45 minutes for labor and the rests are materials. About 2 bottles (actual usage is about 1.42 qts) and the washers.
One of the easiest DIY for our cars. I am pretty sure there are some DIY posts out there. Just use google and search.

There is actually a very good DYI on this forum. I will probably do this myself when it gets nice out it sounds similar to doing an oil change lol. im hoping to keep it under $50 or so in parts.

Very similar to an oil change except you need the pump to put the fluid back in.
Here are some tips i have just in case,
-always remove the filling plug first.
-go to a parking lot and do a few figure 8 driving at low speed (in both direction to get the fluid evenly spread)

Is this just for older models? I thought the diff fluid in my 2009 awd was lifetime fluid and didn't need changing. At least not every 30k or even 60k miles

RWD models do not require a differential fluid change per the Lexus maintenance service schedule.

So is the service guy lying to me? If its something I dont need to do i would rather not go through the hassle but if its something thats gonna ensure longer life of my diff I want it taken care of.

Changed mine out at ~80k miles. Immediately felt the rear end acting smoother. But days later, it felt as it did previously. Preventative maintenance!
