Will a 3IS (2014) alternator work in a 2IS (2007) in spite of different part numbers?

The alternator on my 2007 IS350 (with 117k miles) died and I am planning to attempt to source a used one with low mileage tomorrow morning before going the new route. Does anyone know if a 2014 alternator (Part number 2706031212) will physically fit and provide the same power output as the 2006-2013 alternator (Part number 270603106284). I already found that IS250 and IS350 models share the same alternator part number for a given model year.

The diagrams look the same for both but I figure there was some sort of change to warrant a new part number.

Haven't yet read about someone using a 3IS alt. on a 2IS. Not sure they'd be the same to be honest; but is it worth it with sooooo many reman units at any auto part stores available with lifetime warranties and for half the price of an OEM one?
