Default Oil change every 5K miles or every 10K?

Hi,
My 2011 IS 250 maintenance schedule in the manual shows oil change should be done every
10K miles. Dealer oil change sticker shows it to be done next 5K miles. Which is correct?
Thanks!

Do you know if they put synthetic oil in the car?

I'd like to know as well. I put in synthetic oil in my 350 but get an oil change every 5k miles. Does that mean I could get away with changing it every 10k miles and if I put in regular non synthetic oil I need to do it every 5k?

Are you sure it's not just a service reminder for 5K miles? If your manual says oil change every 10K miles, with synth, then thats what you should do. You still have service intervals every 5K miles though, they just dont change your oil. For later year 250 and 350s it says in the manual oil change syn 0w20 every 10K miles. Now for early years, its 5w30 every 5K with conventional oil. They all use same filter. So can you go 10K miles with 5w30 syn on older models? what if you switch to 0w20? These questions have been asked and debated and there is no clear answer. Some switch to 0W20 and go 10K, Some people think you should still change the filter every 5K miles. Some people change oil every 7,500 miles. Ultimately it's your decision. I think most people just stick to the 5K oil change to be safe, even with synthetic oil. Myself included.

The only way to know for sure is send a sample to Blackstone for analysis as we cant tell how well the oil is holding up based on color or smell. I am using Full Synthetic on my 2006 IS350 and change the oil every 5k miles; probably a little overkilled but i do lot of stop and go driving due to heavy traffic so better be safe than sorry.
I ordered the test kit from the lab so i will try to send the sample out on the next oil change.
My car has 123k on the ODO so i am curious to see how well the engine is holding up as well.

I change oil myself every 5k miles with 5w-30 full synth Mobile 1. Don't need to make it so complicated lol. 10k miles hmm. Thats a bit too long for me.

I think the 5k oil change is for semi synthetic oil. When I pull the stick at 5k before I change it, it's still golden and clear. I think it can go another 2500 miles no problem. I've had cars that the oil would be black at 5k miles.

Recommended change for 2006-2010 IS250 is 5,000 miles with 5W30 non-synthetic. 2011-2013 IS250 is10,000 miles normally or 5,000 miles when used in severe service (short trips, cold climates - Canada) and uses 0W20 synthetic.

Only way to know is to send your oil in for analysis as others have stated. I run Amsoil full synthetic and they recommend every 10K, but I change it every 8K since I am in stop and go traffic most of the time.

I'm sure it's safe to change it every 10,000 miles (assuming the dealer uses synthetic).

Changing it every 3-5k miles is a waste of money, time, and oil if you're using synthetic. I do a bunch of short trips and go 7500 between changes.

I usually only drive 3-4K in 8 months. So that's the interval I generally go by.
