After jacking my car with a hydraulic jack for 7 years on the jack points, they are basically bent to hell. One of them made a loud crumpling noise last week. I don't think they are safe to use anymore at this point. I don't understand why Lexus makes the jack point with such thin steel.

Anyways, what other jack points alternatives are there other than the one by the side skirts? The mid-front by the engine block and mid-rear by the exhaust jack points won't fit my low profile jack.

I remember my old car I can jack my car up on tow hooks. Is that safe to do on the 2IS?

theres a frame rail behind the pinch point thats safe the jack from. most shops put their lift points on there.

I suggest buying some race ramps. They make life a lot easier.

I also use the chasis frame rails to jack the car up if needed.

The red part? I read on Clublexus that someone jacked it up in that part and it crumpled a little bit. I forgot for which car. Might be a GS.

The blue X is where I jack it from and it is all bent to hell.

I wish I can use the front and mid jack points.

I tried ramps before. My car is too low to fit in ramps. And plus I usually do things that involves changing the wheels.

I always use wood on my jack and of course I have to drive on 2x4's cause it sits too low to put a jack under it. Tried using my ramps but sits too low for that.

I have these:
My mr2 is pretty low. I can drive on the ramps just fine. Then I use a jack at the center jack points on the cross members, put jack stands in place and take off the wheels.

I used the lower control arms? Idk if thats what they're called but the huge silver arms under the engine/near the wheel. I don't really know if that was acceptable though... Any comments? lol

My 2x4's do the exact same thing and they were free. I have 2x6's laying around so imma cut and drill them this weekend

I did the same thing prior to buying the ramps. I just got tired of the heavy weight of the wood and the space they took up when stored.

So I went to harbor freight yesterday and bought the longest and lowest jack they had. I tried jacking it up from the rear jack point and it still wasn't able to reach it.




I ended up jacking it up on the frame rails near the mid pipes.

i have that same jack from harbor freight, works on the 2IS and 3IS on rear or front center jack points
