Someone please elaborate for me
I purchased a used 2013 Is 250 over the weekend. Now I'm trying to do some things to it and i'm getting mixed up as to what generation I have. I assume its a 2nd generation, but when looking at the wiring diagram for an alarm their site says its only compatible up to the 2012. Then I started looking to add a oem navigation "mine didn't have it" and i'm seeing 2012-2013 navigation's on ebay with hdd. Then looking on the site I see Official ISx50 NON-Nav to Nav Swap no mention of a hdd. Any help or guidance will be appreciated in advance.

It's because each year things change. You have a 2nd gen. Body parts should be compatible with 2011-2013. Wiring will change a little due to year and options that it is equipped with but the main wiring bundles should be the same.

You definitely have the 2nd Gen,
The Navi thread should be for Base models that dont have Navi, and they are installing an aftermarket one from the company "FlyAudio" which would be the most popular aftermarket navi for our cars. You should save all the Diagrams From
is.sewellparts.com
Before their website closes on March 1.

2nd Generation covers 2006-2013 for the ISx50 Sedan (2008-2014 for IS F, 2010-2015 for IS C). There were 3 primary types of navigation used in the ISx50 Sedan, 2006-2009 (Gen 5 DVD), 2010-2012 (Gen 6 HD) and 2013 (Gen 7 HD). Within those ranges there are also cosmetic differences and IS250/350 climate control differences as well as Mark Levinson or not, so ultimately there are approximately 16 different types of navigation units used on the ISx50 sedan.
The wiring for each primary type with vary.

No factory navigation is going to plug right into your car, the wiring is always different between navigation and non-navigation. That said, the non-navigation wiring stayed relatively consistent between 2006-2013, with some minor changes in 2010 to add Bluetooth and USB functionality.
None of the factory navigation systems use an external DVD, it's always internal to the unit (behind the clock lens on 2006-2009 units, HD on 2010+ units).
Basically what you're going to need is a swap guide for swapping in factory navigation into a 2010+ car, I can't recall if I've seen anyone do that specific swap before, I think most people doing the factory nav swap were using the older 2006-2009 cars, but like I said, the wiring is very similar, but chances are you'll either: 1) Need to swap in an older 2006-2009 DVD-based nav unit to use an existing guide. or 2) Figure out how to swap in a HD-based unit, because I don't think I've seen any guides on how to do that particular swap.
Separate from all that: You will want to stay non-ML. Mark Levinson is a very different system and setup, that swap is a completely different beast (and would require different door panels for example).
