IS - 2nd Gen (2006-2013) Discussion about the 2006+ model IS models

I know that tire wear is an issue with the 350, same problem with the 250?

Ive read and heard that abnormal tire wear on 350s is fairly common. Do 250s suffer from the same issue?

Yes. I drive 350 and my friend drive an 250. We both get about 30k out of the tires. And the inner tire wear look the same on both

it is because the Lexus have the so called dynamic toe changing design in the car. When you brake and turn at the same time, the toe on this car changes and wrong toe kills the tires.

To prevent inner tires wear, you can do the following:
1. Ask the alignment guy to set toes at 0 or super close to 0 for all 4 corners.
2. Replace the soft OEM bushing with Fig #2 poly bushing (more information here https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sus...0-duro-hp.html)

Watch the toe changing here with OEM bushing vs. Fig#2 bushing here

It is normal for sportier cars. The way the tire is angled helps for turning. You ought to never get a true sports car with sport tires, you might get 12k-15k for tires.

Definitely! You should be happy if you are getting anything over 30k miles. My BMW Z4M rear tires usually need to be replaced after 12k miles or so.

What tire brand and model did you guys used and how many miles did you run on them? I think the mileage also depends on the brand, and model of the tire.

I used continental dws on stock 18" rims. Got about 30k on the fronts. The rears still have quite a bit tread left (rear tires wear pretty even), but I'm not so sure how much more I can get out of those since I'm running some 20"s now

P/s: I don't drive like I'm stealing the car tho. Tire wear also depends on your driving style as well...

I have about 13k miles on my IS350 RWD and the stock Bridgestone tires that came with it. Everytime I go somewhere for service, they always point out the inner tire wear on my tires. The guy who did my oil change last time has a 2IS as well and says he changes his tires every 18k miles.

I also flip them around as well..so the inner will be the outer, outer to inner. did that every 5k miles same time at oil changes.

So you are saying you remove the tires from the wheels and install it to the other side? Because that is the only way you can prevent the inner tread wall from balding quickly.

Correct! One of my friends has a shop, so I get that done for free. That's the only reason why I was doing it
