Default Accident. Airbags did not deploy

My wife was driving my car, Got hit hard on the driver side.

Im a bit concerned that the airbags didnt deploy.
Where are the sensors located on the car? and why didnt the airbags deploy?

Im going to file a complaint to lexus, but wanted to check to see if anyone had any thing similar happen to them

i just bought a is250 that had front end damage including left fender damage. while replacing there was not any sensor located in the area your car got hit so I am assuming thats the reason no airbag got deployed.

judging by the damage the airbag wouldn't deploy anyways... if the collision was right at the B pillar area or a rollover then the side curtain airbag and side lumbar airbag would deploy... and looks like the IS did a pretty good job judging by the damage...

Airbags aren't suppose to deploy in many situations since it can do more alot more harm than good.

Right, I'm not sure why a lot of people will think something is wrong when the airbags didn't deploy in an accident. And from the look of this collision , it doesn't look like it would prevent any injuries if it deployed. Here is a link on airbags info http://www.iihs.org/iihs/topics/t/airbags/qanda

Looks like everyone is saying the same thing, i dunno why it bothered me that the airbags didnt deploy. I know sometimes they could do more harm than good.

Default 5/5/2016 accident

I was hit by a man going in reverse as fast as his tahoe allowed. My airbags did not deploy either.

I don't think I'd file a complaint if everyone is okay. I'd be glad they didn't go off because of the additional repair costs, even if your not paying for it, it adds a lot of extra time onto the repairs. Also, if you ever want to sell the car you'll lose your a** on it. I have an IS350 that was in a previous front end accident and its fine, but I would not have bought it if the air bags had been deployed.

However, if your wife has injuries that could have been prevented with the air bag deploying, then of course, that outweighs anything that I've stated above and I would definitely file a complaint.

I believe it has to do with the lack of any major damage to the B pillar. I'd trust that Lexus would know what they're doing.

Sucks about the accident and I wish everyone a speedy recovery, but chasing a "flaw" in Lexus's airbag systems won't get you anywhere.

Airbags can cause damages so they only deploy in extreme cases where you will get damage anyway.

It looks like a sideswipe to me; generally side airbags deploy only on a 90 degree or nearly so hit.
