Default oil filter recommendations

I need some imput on which oil filter you guys use or recommend for 8, 000+ synthetic oil changes.I drive about 16k miles per year and plan on changing oil twice a year. I never had a car with this type of filter so I don't really know what to look out for.

just get OEMs. Heres a 3 pack for $20 shipped. Get some crush gaskets just in case for drain bolt but those are a seperate item

Thanks all. I just got the car so I'll get a case + nylon washers. What would be the limit on these filters just out of curiosity. Lets say someone wanted to run royal purple.

I was told the filters themselves were not good for over 7k miles awhile ago--and this was the reason that Lexus didn't advise running synthetic for long-intervals like BMW.

Does anyone have any factual information on this???

I would not go over 8K for the OEM filter and for oil i like Mobil 1 extended performance, I haven't used royal purple.

Toyota uses their filters for 10,000 mi (16,000km) on newer IS models (2011+ IS250, 2014+ IS350) that use 0W20, so they should be good for at least that if that's what they're recommending from the factory.

Toyota did not change the filters when extending the change interval.

Their seems to be a slight difference of opinions here. Just to be clear what is the maximum one can go on the OEM filter? Please speak to this generation specifically. I'd rather not make inferences based upon future and past generations.

Jeff is correct. The same Toyota filter for earlier models with standard oil/5k mile changes is the one used on newer models with syn/10k mile changes. If ur switching from standard to syn u prob want to change earlier the first couple times though.

Within the 2nd generation IS year range (2006-2013 model years, 2005-2013 calendar year production), the same oil filter was used the entire time. The recommended oil was 5W30 non-synthetic for the 2006-2010 IS250 and 2006-2013 IS350, the recommended oil was 0W20 synthetic for the 2011-2013 IS250.

Models that used the 5W30 conventional oil had a recommended change interval of 5,000 mi (8,000 km). Models that used the 0W20 synthetic oil had a recommended change interval of 10,00 mi (16,000 km). The oil filter for both change intervals did not vary, nor was it updated and/or changed in any way once the newer oil/change interval was introduced.

didn't lexus also recommended to use 5W20 instead of 5W30 which it was originally said on the owner's manual and the oil cap..
