Default Bought an IS350! OH... and got rear ended.

This is very disappointing . I spent several months finding a nice one owner, low mileage, clean history 2008 IS350 in Smoky Gray Mica.

I've barely driven it a month and this happens on Thursday. I was at a complete stop on the highway on the way to work. Traffic had come to a very gradual stop too, which is why it was so surprising. Then some guy in an S10 just comes barreling through and rams a BMW 7 series right into my car. I didn't hear tires squealing or anything, so I'm not even sure he hit the brakes. His airbags went off and his truck is definitely totaled. The BMW wouldn't start and had to be pushed off the road.

Fortunately, I was able to still drive mine back home. My insurance company was able to get it into a shop right away. At first the liable driver couldn't provide the cop with proof of insurance, but the guy called me an hour later with his insurance info. My insurance company then started a claim against them. Anyway here's the damage... not the first post I wanted to make about my new car.

I know exactly how you feel bro. I got rear ended a long time ago but not on my Lexy. On my old previous car. By a brand new Mustang. Good luck and try to think of the bright side. Get something out of it and make your Lexy better.

The good thing is that it doesn't look so bad.You just have to replace the bumper.Good luck and send some pics when you fix it

Looks like a lot more than a bumper, good to hear that you walked away from this. Look on the bright side, now u can mod the rear end.

Look at the bright side that you did not buy a brand new car and have it totaled. Buying a used car and having it totaled is much less disappointing.

Sorry to hear! Don't forget to claim for "Loss of Value" to your vehicle now since the resale value is diminished due to accident.

The adjustor is saying there could possibly be some minor frame damage. Does that seem possible with this sort of impact? Trunk still open sand closes fine, side panels are fine. Obviously I can't see what all got pushed in directly behind the bumper. I will definitely be putting in a claim for diminished value as well.

Any guesses on total damage? I was thinking around $6,000? I should hopefully have a full report by tomorrow.

At least I still have the trusty SC to drive around while it's getting fixed.

with just looking at the pictures provided , I would say frame damage for sure
The ISx50's/ ISF's bumpers are suprisingly steady and it takes alot to do damage on them
if you didn't hit anything in front of you , they can try repairing ,
but then again with frame damage.. I wouldn't wanna drive car anymore ,
Glad everyone was ok in your car

Look under the car I'm sure you see some bent frame under there, and to me it doesn't look like a total loss.
