Default Used 07 IS350 purchase - is this service history a red flag?

Or could it possibly be old stuff that has since been repaired properly? The car now has 75k miles on it and most of this stuff is much earlier in the vehicles life. Still a bit worried though. Definitely would have a mechanic look at it prior to purchase. If all of these items were fixed properly should I be OK? Or am I asking for trouble? The main reason Im looking at Lexus is the reliability factor. Car is at a dealership.

Sounds to me mostly like the previous owner (just one???) could have been terrible at parking. The steering wheel/main shaft is the only thing that I couldn't explain with my "terrible parking" theory. And they don't actually say what was wrong there. Mine had more on the sheet than that, and it has given me no troubles, really, except having to replace the battery (and after 6 yrs, that is not unexpected). Still, for your own peace of mind if nothing else, I'd have a mechanic you trust have a look.

Doesn't look that bad to me as it is a used car. There should be a lot more history on it then that though.

I suggest to join up with the Lexus Drivers website http://drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/home and input the VIN number like you own it to check for a more detailed previous service history . It can take few hours for it to register before you can check the service history sometimes . You can delete the VIN of that vehicle if you decide not to buy it and check as many VIN's as you want that way. There have been at least 8 service campaigns and most should have been done with the pending Safety Recall ELF (E2F)"Potential Fuel Pressure Sensor Leak" to be done as soon as they get parts.

Thanks, there was a lot more but most of it was basic stuff - maintenance, recall work ,etc.

I'd not worry about it as long as it currently NOW drives straight and true and no noises from the suspension.

Looks like they just can't drive LOL. The "steering wheel/main shaft" is just the section type the service writer selected when making the repair order. Then they type whatever description they choose. See how the front/rear body, then a brief description is typed for the technician.

All depends on price. With that history, the dealer would probably try to knock $5000-7000 off the trade-in price. You should use the same tactics.

lexus is's have bad design which casues them to destroy tires way too early. the problem can't be fix so be ready to replace tires and do alignments often.

There are a lot of reports that installing FIGS #2 lower control arm bushings will greatly reduce or eliminate this. Mine haven't been on long enough for me to have a personal experience to share yet though.

How much did it run you to install these? Any benefit besides potentially slowing tire wear?

Cheapest quote I got for installation from ~5 places was $120 so I did it myself. You can feel the road through the steering wheel slightly more, but the main benefit is supposed to be decreased inner front tire wear.

If this is at a Lexus dealership and the car looks and drives good, that's not a horrible price (Lexus dealers general won't sell a car this old unless its in very good condition - their reputation is on the hook if anything goes wrong).

If it's at an independent dealership, I'd probably pass.
