My front brakes are making a weird noise when braking from moving slowly. It's hard to describe but I'm pretty sure I need to replace my brakes. My 350 now has 67k miles and I bought it when it had 60k. Not sure when or even if previous owner ever changed them. I did notice that on Lexus site the dealer made a note when it had 57k miles that brakes need to be replaced but owner declined. I have a very good independent mechanic that I go to with decent prices and I would like to use sewell. Can anyone let me know exactly what I need, do I need rotors or just all brake pads? Not really sure, any info would be great

You need to measure your rotors to know if you need new rotors or if you can just resurface them.

Other than that I just buy a set of front and a set of rear brake pads from sewell? Any idea how much an independent mechanic will charge to change all 4 brake pads? Just to give you an idea he changed my spark plugs for $100 (I provided the plugs from sewell) and he charged $80 for brake fluid change, I also provided my own fluid.. Thanks

Yeah, Sewell Lexus can hook you up with the right parts AND with a CL discount no less. Don't forget that over time the brake caliper hardware fatigues; so if you can budget for it, you might want to look at the brake hardware kits they offer.

Also make sure to ask the shop to check to see if your rear calipers are seizing up or are seized already. The rear calipers on the earlier 2IS models are notorious for this, like the water pump.

i know u said u wanted to get oem brakes from sewell, but i got the duralast brakes from autozone cuz i couldnt wait for shipping. So i paid about 60 for the fronts which come with integrated shims and lifetime warranty (so the next and the next and the next pads will be free) and did the swap myself. literally took about 10 minutes. Try to swap them uself and save some cash. Sp easy even a monkey could do it. Pads are squeal free and practically dustless!

Yea i usually go oem but I wouldn't mind trying a different cheaper brand. Maybe I can get a buddy who knows a little more about cars than me and one weekend we can do it.
Also when I'm holding the brake and slowly let go it makes this almost grinding noise in my brakes.. But it's not really grinding, hard to describe the sound Does that mean they are bad?

could be ur rotors bro. Have ur buddy who is a little more mechanically inclined take a look at them.
