Default 2011 IS250 Cold Air Intake Installation!

Hello, I am a new member and drive a 2011 Lexus IS250 F sport. Today I received my Sewell Cold Air Intake and getting ready to install it. In the installation manual they recommend disconnecting the negative battery cable from the vehicle. Will this delete all my navigation and radio settings?

I don't think there'll be any harm toward your Navi and Radio. From what I heard people swapping out there battery's and no issue. So won't be a problem with yours.

Depends on how long you leave the negative terminal/battery disconnected.

If you leave the battery disconnect for 10-15 plus or minus 5 minutes, navigation and radio settings should not be erased.

leaving the battery disconnected for a longer period of time will erase navigation and radio settings.

Settings that get affected would be radio stations, time/clock, and travel area for the navigation. I've noticed that the navigation default setting is the east coast (DC, Maryland, Virgina, etc.)

You will have to "reset" your power window. Simply open and close each power window using the independent switches on each door

Would anyone recommend not removing the negative battery connection while installing the cold air intake?

Disconnecting the battery will also reset the ECU so it will "learn" your new driving style with the new intake. You dont have to remove it but it will take longer for the ECU to re-learn.

Oh, that's interesting. I am going to follow the Sewell installation guidelines to avoid any mechanical issues after the installation. Also, l really appreciate all your help and feedback on my questions. I will post installation pictures soon.

After the install and you connect everything back, MAF, negative terminal, etc. don't be alarmed that on the initial start up, the engine will start but might shutoff. I say might because sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. But it's normal for the engine to do that. As I have read on many threads on this forum and have confirmed with Lexus techs that it is all part of the "ECU relearning process."

About resetting the power windows, I have a 2011 IS and I have disconnected the negative terminal many times, sometimes I forget about it and it was disconnected for like 4-8 hours lol, I have never had to reset the power window settings. I think the settings for the windows only get affected on the 06-08 models. I have not experienced that either with my 2010 IS. I could just be lucky, who knows.

enjoy your new intake, you will love the sound when you step on it!

Oh shoot, I installed my F Sport air intake without disconnecting the battery. Is this the reason why 1st to 2nd gear sometimes jerk??? How should I fix this?

Default Installed

I have successfully installed my F Sport Cold Air Intake today, pics included. I did remove the negative battery connector during installation. The window settings were not effected but radio, time-clock and some of the navigation setting had to be reset. I personally really like the minor change in noise at higher RPM. I only wish Lexus sold the intake in other colors like, black or blue.

You should have asked that question about the color earlier because Joe Z makes his intake with a black or blue intake pipe.

Also, most installation instructions ask to remove the negative battery terminal so you won't get shocked. It's not always necessary. Congrats in your new intake. (It's not a true cold air because it doesn't have the filter towards the exterior of the vehicle).

Sffd103, I appreciate the feedback. I have read Joe Z information and I noticed the color choices, lower cost and understand from reading the blog that its good quality too. In the end I decided to purchase original F sport intake because my IS250 F Sport is a certified vehicle and the original equipment doesn't void my warranty. Depending on the cost I may decide to powder coat the original one in the near future.
