Yeah I would never buy a car from somewhere that has intense winters like that. Snow and salt screw up cars, thats why they cost more in California.

Well, I ran my car for like 1 year and it has been through autocross, track and daily driving on bad CA roads without any problem. My take is that as long as the car has good maintenance done, the car should be fine. I do agree that if the price isn't much different, it would be better to get the cars in CA than in snowy states.

Not saying that you cant luck out which it sounds like you did, but there is just too much risk involved in my opinion. Especially if the car was only driven in the summer or something and garaged all winter.
