^Check the cables to the battery first for corrosion. When my alternator went, it took it nearly a half-hour to completely go from a running car to dead on the side of the road. I had a good, three-month old battery.

I pretty much had the same problem as original poster in this thread. Bought my car from a good dealer ship not a rinky dink type. When I went to test drive battery was dead so they jumped it for me. They told me they replace the battery and it sure looked new but here I am 5 month later and car did exactly the same thing. Start my car from apartment complex, car started fine. Drove about a half a mile to put gas and after I was done pumping gas is when I got a sluggish start and noticed power steering was not functioning properly. (Damn car is harder to turn then my 68 Camaro...lol). After driving about 1mile notice my nav was flickering, head lights as well, and then bam: battery, vsc, check vsc,...ECT. Car didn't die but I pulled into abandoned gas station and needed a half an hour jump to get it started. (Person had super small jumper cables) Finally got it started and drove straight onto the highway where I know the rpms would be constant at about 2-2 1/2 rpm for about 20mins thinking a) the battery would charge or b) it would eventually die. Thank god it didn't die on me but upon exiting off the ramp and rpms drop the car hesitated off the light (easy throttle). Made it home safe. Sorry for the long paragraph but just want to make sure it can't be something major as this was out of the blue and I don't want dealer to rip me a new. Taking it there either tomorrow or Saturday. Also last thing being it drove good with no flicker on the highway it's more or less the battery right. Any insight is helpful, Thanks

The fact that you lost power steering makes it far more likely to be the alternator. (may have taken the battery along with it too)

Jumped my car today to bring it to dealer. First unplugged the battery for about 20 mins to reset anything if needed. After jumping and got it started I got a check engine light and vsc light on. Power steering was working but when pulling out I got no throttle response, idle was jumping up and down and only driver side window was able to go down. Any thoughts ??
