Default 06 350 36XXX miles a good deal??

Hey everyone,

Brand new here.
I am looking to purchase a 06 350, and I was hoping I can get some insight on one of them I found.

I looked up the service records via the lexus site, and it looks like it had the recalls done...I think.

The records didn't specify a TSB number, but it said the cam shaft timing gear was replaced along with the other recommended recalls i read about in the FAQ section on CL.

The car has about 36K miles, and they have it listed for $17,877.

Car is the the base model, but the dealer told me it has HIDs.

The 2 front rims have some pretty nasty damage, but the dealer told me they are fixing them this week.

Do you guys think this is a good deal?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Cheers,

H

sounds like a great deal really - make sure the interior panels are not melting and you should be good. Oh yea, I got the Lexus Platnum warranty and totally got my monies worth - get it for as long as they will allow.

Good luck, its a great car man

Well that's really low miles for an 06. I bought my 07 IS350 almost five years ago for $20K with 49K miles. I think it's a decent deal. Of course you should still haggle them, try to get it for $16.5 or $17K. Are you in the Chicago area?

Thanks for the quick replies guys.

As far as I could tell, it seemed like a pretty good deal.
I will absolutely haggle them!

Also, I do plan on purchasing the VSA if I buy.

Yes, I am in Chicago, Westmont to be exact, and the car is located in oak lawn at a Mazda dealership.

I'm planning on going to take it for a spin after work tomorrow.

If someone can be so kind, would you mind looking up the VIN for the service history and help me confirm whether or not the recalls have been done?

Thanks again for your responses guys!

Well, if you need a certified Lexus mechanic to check it out or service it, I know someone you can go to. I use to work with him at McGrath. Anyways, whatever you saw on the Lexus site with service is really all the dealer has, just more specific with notes and stuff. And honestly, I wouldn't be so concerned with recalls being done or not, you can still get them done. Check to see if it got the valve spring recall done, it was done on my car and I suspect the tech didn't do it properly because my engine blew 400 miles once warranty was out and I found broken rocker arms and a spring out of place. Luckily, Lexus fixed it for free.

I I could get a contact info for the mechanic I would really appreciate it.

I think i did read on the service history that the valve spring recall was done.

My family has driven Lexus' for the past 15 years and have loved them. I'm the only one that's always driven an Acura. I think it may be time for me to switch.

Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

Cheers.

That price is pretty good no doubt; but remind the sales folks there that winter is upon us and that you're not sure about a RWD model being of any use to you. Perhaps a bargaining chip there!

If it's the one at Oak Lawn Mazda, they've dropped the price down, as it's listed online as $16,877.

for 36,000 miles its a filthy looking car especially inside. not to mention the leather seats are shiny and look worn out. all that pitting from the wheels is due to a lot of driving on salt covered roads. most likely there is corrosion on the underbody components as well. looks like they spray painted the exhaust mufflers silver or that may be overspray from a rear bumper re-spray. personally I would pass on this car. doesn't look like it was well cared for considering the low miles. im sure you can find one with slightly higher miles with options for close to that price.
