^It is a fuel sender gasket recall. There's also a fuel delivery pipe recall. Both will not be what you have been experiencing.

Good luck!
Thanks man I indeed made it to the dealer and got myself a loaner for 2 days. Yes all electrical was off but I just can't stop using turn signals..... lol

^Well that's good to hear! My alternator went out on my on a rainy day on my way back home from work. I had noticed the wipers not moving as fast as normal, but thought I was crazy...that was, until the battery light came on. Car drove normal after that point, but I started turning everything off I could except lights and wipers. Then it got to the point where the cluster's lights would deem while I was using the turn signals. so I stopped that. Then my power-assisted steering went out. Then as I was going down a hill the car just shut off on me with no notice. Well, I coasted to a stop on the side of the in a clearing out of the way of traffic thank God and called my usual flatbed operator. Got my car home and replaced the alternator DIY style 2 days later. Auto Zone reman for $160 with core.

What a story and glad you made it home safe and only cost you $160. I can do my own oil / dif change but not sure if i'll create more problem installing an alternator myself. Dealer will charge me 830 otd and will give me some discount when I pick up since they couldn't figure out when I was there few weeks ago. I guess I get to drive to work with a loaner for 2-3 days w/benefit paying at a higher price.

Update: dealer replaced my alternator and no more smoke / plastic smell. Thanks again to all that supported me.

Glad you found the remedy and it'll def help me in the future for trouble shooting.

Also thanks for those that contributed with the same symptoms and fix. I use ClubLexus like a second owners manual and nothing is worst than having to rule out 10 other things that have nothing to do with problem or sometimes even the location of the problem.

This one was pretty straight forward from the symptoms to the fix!

Default It was the alternator

I had same exact issue and took it to the shop and my mechanic found it was the alternator which I suspected thanks to this thread and the location of weird white smelling smoke. Honestly not really electrical smelling like one might think but definitely off smelling not sweet or sullfer smelling. Smelt through ac first but didnt find till later when replaced dead battety and found to smoke few minutes after start up. No eltrical issues noticed. Hope this helps someone else club lexus for the win 08 is350 at 138,000
