Judging from the pics from your other thread, you have 18" wheels. Then to answer your question, no...staggered front/rear tire sizes. 225/255.

^^ What he said because the wheels are 18x8 and 18x8.5.

Unless you have base model 17's which only came in one size 17x8

I was referring to the size of the wheels of the is250 in this thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...-the-rear.html

So the rims in the pictures in the above referenced thread are either 18x8 and 18x8.5?

thanks

kind regards

so the is250 has stock 225/40/18 tires front
and 255/40/18 tires in the rear. Wouldnt this be staggerred?

Yes. Wheel widths are staggered as well. 8" on the front and 8.5" on the back.

Stock RWD IS250 wheels are the following:

16x8.0" Wheels with 205/55R16 All Around (Canada 2006-2010 Only, Not used on any USA-spec models)
17x8.0" Wheels with 225/45R17 Front and 245/45R17 Rear
18x8.0" Front and 18x8.5" Rear with 225/40R18 Front and 255/40R18 Rear

So there is a non-staggered wheel, non-staggered tire setup, a non-staggered wheel with staggered tire setup, and a staggered wheel with staggered tire setup for the IS250 RWD. The IS350 RWD drops the 16-inch option and the AWD models all came with non-staggered 17x8.0" with 225/45R17 all around.

I hope that helps.

That was not a mistake. It is what RWD IS250 models with 17" wheels came with for wheel and tires, it is correct.

really? Why would they put a 225/255 on wheels that are not staggered?

They don't put 225/255 on non-staggered wheels, they put 225/245 on non-staggered wheels. 225/245 on an 8" wheel are within manufacturer specs.

It's really no different than doing 225/255 on 8.0x8.5. You've got 30mm wider rear tires on a wheel that is only 12.7mm wider.

225mm width on 203.2mm (8.0in) wheel = 21.8mm Overall Bulge (Stock Front on 17"/18" RWD setups)
245mm width on 203.2mm (8.0in) wheel = 41.8mm Overall Bulge (Stock Rear on 17" RWD setups)
255mm width on 215.9mm (8.5in) wheel = 39.1mm Overall Bulge (Stock Rear on 18" RWD setups)

Difference between the 225/245 17-in and 225/255 18-in setups as far as rear tire setup goes is 2.7mm overall, or 1.35mm difference per sidewall. It's pretty much an identical look for the front/rear difference on the car. Which is probably why Lexus did it.

Asking why they would put that much wider rear tires (255) on a wheel that is only 0.5in wider is really just as valid, but you'd have to speak to the vehicle engineers/designers to find exactly why that is.
