Resonator Delete
I had a full custom straight pipe made for my IS but got pulled over and had to go back to stock. In Canada it's illegal to have a straight pipe.
So now back to stock. Muffler delete or Resonator delete?
I like loud above 3500 like quiet below that.
If the resonator delete is easy I wouldn't mind doing it myself.
Muffler delete seems to permanent, If you guys know of a way of a delete that can reattached if needed that would be great.
resonator cons vs muffler cons?
note got a injen intake and not spending anymore money custom pipe cost me 1500.

Muffler delete sounds like a swarm of raspy bees. Resonator delete sounds better when u keep the mufflers. The only non-permament way is to cut the resonators out and weld on exhaust flanges onto the filler pipe and adjoining ends. Unless you have a welder and the proper tools, I suggest that you take it to a muffler shop. Its relatively cheap and quick.

Sorry if im double posting but i just wrote a long reply to your question and apparently it didnt post according to my phone.. Stupid technology lol.
Anyway in short form of my reply : resonator delete equals slightly different deeper tone over stock. Muffler delete equals huge tone change but very likely to get you in trouble (like my brother did in his mercury cougar)
Resonator delete also sounds better IMO but to be honest you wont really notice the difference until you give it a week or 2. You mainly notice the difference when you have someone rev it hard (until fuel cut off) and your directly behind it. Other than that the difference is minimal but then again it only costs 40 bucks to delete Also you can put it back on for like 4o bucks at my local muffler shop. So no real loss , only gain
Good luck with your decision and keep us posted on what you decide!!

Also in the event that you buy an exhaust, the resonator delete helps make the sound less restricted and louder (in a good way usually) since your essentially deleting something that was made to quiet down the car even more.
Recently i saw a vid posted on youtube about an Is250 with an M2 exhaust and resonator delete and honestly to me it sounded mean. Especially when compared to the same car with the resonator still on. (Huge Difference). So again give the resonator delete a shot first. THEN try the mufflers if your not satisfied... Good luck again.
Now i just wait for my M2 to arrive in the mail

Resonator delete on is350 2014
Hi all if I keep the stock and just do resonator delete will that create a lot of drone? Is yes at what rpm I am looking for the car to be a bit loud after 3k rpm not while cruising.

Not to help bring back a thread to life but ^ there's going to be a little drone/buzz around the cruising RPMs like around 2k. Personally it's not to my taste so I put a Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonator in it's place which solved it but kept it louder at WOT

thanks mate, got a 2.5" vibrant ultra quiet. Will that fit ? What size is stock mufflers 2.5 ?

I don't mean to chirp in on this old *** thread as well, but I personally think a resonator delete on a stock exhaust sounds horrible. Like a horde of angry bees. If you're touching your exhaust for cheap, muffler delete is the way to go. It's not loud and doesn't get loud unless you really get on the throttle between 2-4k. Highway speeds can be drone-y if you're not used to having a modded exhaust.
This is what it sounds like after the pipes build up some carbon:
