So I just picked up a set of wheels in SoCal from a guy who got his wheels refinished by @wheelbuilt_ronnie who's located in SD. Long story short, guy sanded it wrong and also either used old gold dipped nuts he claimed was new or forgot to clear coat them. They rusted up in less than a month. So BEWARE, stay away from this guy. His reputation is already going down since he's been caught so many times. Since I can't polish them using the drill + polish technique since it's been dipped, can I just blue tape my whole wheel and spray rust remover on just the hardware/nut and then preform a layer of clear coat? I know disassembling the wheel is an option but that means I need to dismount the tires and throw them back on. It's only rusted in the tiny hole. Not on the other end or around the nut. If there's any other options, let me know! Heard it cost a lot to disassemble a wheel also.
I don't really see the rust in the pic. Either you remove the gold fastness and have them redone completely and right (sounds really expensive) or you just let th be. I'm not sure in the rust remover. That sounds tricky, especially if it messes them up. Good luck though. Have Wheel Techniques look at them and see what they recommend.
dont go to this guy Rite-Way Wire & Wheel Specialists - Walnut Creek, CA if ever you want some shop to check it out.
didnt do a good job on my powder coat. i dropped my lug nut and the paint chipped so bad
Did you get a quote? Btw it's super hard to sand down in there.
Not yet. I wonder if I can get a polish tip and just shove it into the hole. It'll take the gold off probably but I don't think that matters LOL.. I don't mind chrome in the hole and gold on the outside

It won't be chrome under the gold. You'll scrape it down to the metal.
