Default IS250, After carbon build up recall, a safe buy?

Well like the title says, is it a safe buy or will I have problems with the same thing down the road?

I've read of only a couple of members having the same issues reoccur some time after the initial carbon build-up recall services being performed. Most don't mention having additional issues thereafter; but it is totally possible.

I purchase my 250 just a few thousand miles after the original owner had the carbon buildup issue. I guess he got scared away so I got the car for a steal. But I havent had any issues in the 25k+ miles ive owned the car

Thank you for the replies, looks like I'll just play it safe and look for a 350.

the 250 and the 350 both have their fair share of issues. I think that cam gear issue is just as bad as the carbon buildup so do your research on both cars and see what is less of a headache to deal with. Lexus still honors the carbon buildup recall on certain cars for both recalls

^Yeah, but I'd rather have a cam gear replaced for free over an engine ovehaul for free any day!

CPO still won't protect you if you have carbon buildup later on. IIRC, carbon buildup can come at any time
