2006 is250 Single Din Head Unit upgrade question
I've had my is250 for about a month now and love it. I hate that I don't have a usb hookup for iphone\ipods. The aux port sounds like **** and i hear ground noise whenever I press the gas pedal.
I have a nice sub\amp that i took out of my previous car I sold and plan on getting a nice stealth box as well. I install all my audio setups my self but I have a couple questions on the headunit.
I've searched but get conflicting results
Is there a ton of custom work to make a single din unit work? I hear that custom work will need to be done in order for the AC to work etc??
I was planning to get one of these single head unit install bezels

For those of you that have installed single din units in their car what was required? Any special adapters or anything else for the climate control etc..? Or is it just like any basic single din head unit install?

If you're frustrated with the ground noise when you press the gas pedal, you should buy a group loop noise isolator. They eliminate that problem and only cost like $12 on Amazon. There was actually a TSB for it where Lexus replaced it under warranty, but that has already expired.

Still trying to find some answers for anyone else that has installed a single din unit and any special requirements for it.

What was done prior to that kit coming out was people removing their CD player and fabricating something to fit a single din or single din with a screen that popped out. Lots of stuff had to be moved into the glove box. There was a kit that was supposed to go into the center air vents by Schoche but not sure if it was ever released. I just went with the Fly Audio DVD/GPS and added a nice JL Audio sub and amps in the trunk. The downfall to the system was indeed the head unit and I just made due. Bottom line its a lot of custom work, what that is exactly I don't know. A member and audiophile Slammer1 made his own trim piece and did a fantastic job.
