Is it OKAY to get a IS 350 that is more then 5 yrs old and have 100k+ mileage?

I'm not sure if it is worth buying.. since it will not come with warrenty.

Any advice on buying 100k+ mileage old IS350?

If you are worried about maintenance/repair, personally I'd rather buy a Lexus with 100k than an Audi with 50k miles. That same goes for pretty much every German vs Japanese debate. It is possible I'm biased due to the old GTi I owned and repaired...

I made a similar choice last spring, I wanted (still want, to be honest) a BMW 135i or 335i. I had it narrowed down to an a 335i with 52k and my IS350 with 66k miles. The purchase price of the 335 was less, but here I am driving the Lexus. I havn't put a dime into repairing the Lexus, and there are plenty of people with 100k+ on the clock that haven't done anything other than routine maintenance.

One more thing to consider: Infinity G37

You do get reliability tho and you'll not worry much about anything other than oil changes and gas.
P.s. 60k service is an important one and expensive if not DYI, make sure its done before you purchase.
Is it as slow as a prius??? I have a prius and it is REAAAALLLLYY slow (acceleration, once it gets up I can get it going on the fwy....until I hit a hill LOL)

My vote on the OP was for the Audi because I have heard how slow the 250 is. Only thing about the Audi is, well, it's an Audi. Not really known for reliability. But they may have improved on that.

I came from an 2002 Audi S4 (V6TT) stage II+. That being said, for me it was night and day moving from the Audi to the Lexus. The Audi was my first real car, and it was amazing. The aftermarket scene and support on forums (audizine, vwvortex) have a plethora of information and support. I can tell you that the is250 is much slower feeling than the 2.0T. If you are a performance guy, I would go with the A4. IMHO, it is an overall nicer car and the on-deman-power is so much better. Having a turbocharged car opens doors to aftermarket tunes that can make enhance the driving experience. I believe that the 2011 Audi A4 has limited problems, as they worked out the kinks throughout the first two years of the B8. I think youll be in the clear. The 2009 models had transmission problems. The only problem that I can think of is the engine consuming oil quicker than normal. A little bit of reserach on the other forums can confirm this. To get similar power out of the is250, you need to have it in the higher RPM range and then you 'go'. As for the 2.0T, you will get power in the 3k RPM range and beyond. Not sure what your plan is, but if you are going for looks and performance, I would go with the A4 with a tune, exhaust, lowered, wheels.

Totally up to you though.

Thank you so much everyone for the replies!

Only 1 week left til i move to Chicago and I made my mine for IS 250.

1) IS 350.. There aren't that much 350's near 60044 area. There are some, but those are either all out of my budge or I do not like the colors.

2) Infinity G37.. I had 06 g35 coupe before my current car (veloster turbo) and it was awesome. however.. the new g35x (awd) looks horrible and the gas mileage is just bad. so I will pass on infiniti's

So I came up with lists of IS 250's

But here is one more concern buying Lexus IS 250.

Is it worth it to buy certified?

I mean, Of course It would be if I had money. However, Lexus dealors won't deal the CPO prices that well.
Regular used car with clean carfax sounds good but I would have to get extended warranty just in case and the rate would be higher then CPO's ( I heard Lexus is doing special rates for CPO's)
There are affordable 2006~2009 IS 250's but I do not like them. I HIGHLY prefer 2011~ IS250.
The body style and headlights are slightly different but those make significant + to me.

I could afford non-certified / clean carfax used 2011
VS
Just get 2006~2009 certified
VS
just go for 2011 certified YOLO

Thank you Club Lexus!

For what it's worth, I also prefer the 2011+, so will probably go with a non-CPO/clean carfax. Being that new, it should have low mileage and you won't have the carbon buildup, plus you'll probably still have some remainder of the original warranty left.
